TOPIC: Question About Token Stacking

Question About Token Stacking 13 years 8 months ago #1

I was just looking over some of the tokens from this and past years, and I was wondering if certain items can be stacked or not? Some of my group and I are first timers at TD, so we wanted to get a few things straight before we officially locked in our gear.

For example, there are many items that provide a bonus to AC, but how many, if any, can be stacked together? Could, let's say, a wizard wear the Cloak of the Mage, Robes of the Mage, Bracers of Defense, and a Ring of Protection and still retain the bonuses from all four items?

Second, can a fighter wear the Sharkstooth Armor and an Amulet of Thorns, damaging an enemy with both whenever he is damaged?

Lastly, what of items that provide the same effect? Say a player wears both a Ring of Sanctuary and a Hat of Escape; would an enemy have to make two separate Will saves in order to attack that player?

Thanks!

If you check under the resources tab and go to that page you can download the token guide. This guide will cover all the 'slots' you can put tokens in. I might miss one here but here you go:

Armor
Head
Wrists
Hands (like gloves or gauntlets)
Weapon Hand 1
Weapon Hand 2
Ioun Stones x5
Feet
Neck
Cloak
Charms x3

So yes to the wizard questions. Yes to the fighter question. And I'm not sure about hat of escape and ring of sanctuary pairing.

EN's right. The slots are the key.

> Cloak of the Mage, Robes of the Mage, Bracers of Defense, and a Ring of Protection.

All would stack, with the exception of the Cloak and Robes, since they would occupy the same slot. A reminder: Items with with same name DO NOT stack- so no wearing two Rings of Protection +1.

So yep, Wearing the Thorns plus Sharkstooth Armor would stack. You'll be extra prickly!

I assume a Ring of Sanctuary and a Hat of Escape would mean two saving throws. I have not seen this be done, though...

I had heard that cloak of mage and robe of archmage would stack using cloak and armor slots

the regular robes stacked with the cloak..so I have no idea why the new robes wouldn't stack (the UR)..i think some people will try to have the cloak, new robes UR and the old robes (rare)..the old robes and the UR robes should not stack

Hmmmm... I was recalling the ruling that the 2008 Rare Robe of the Mage would not stack with the UR Cloak of the Mage.

If Robes and Cloaks now stack, well, that will make our wizard very happy!

if you look on the character design Excel sheet thing that Amorgen Burke put together (thanks thanks and thanks again)..robes count as armor and the cloak in the cloak slot..the way I thought it always was

Still not sure. I'll defer to the rules gods on this one.
(And will be glad to be proven wrong)

I had seen a party member use cloak and robes together and coach allowed it. That's what spawned my original comment. So I imagine 2 URs would work as well as a rare and a UR
