TOPIC: Question About Token Stacking

Re: Question About Token Stacking 13 years 8 months ago #13

I think you guys are confusing the issue.

Kirk, here's what you need to know about stacking:

There are several slots: Head, Neck, Armor, Cloak, Bracers, Gloves, Rings, Belt, Boots, Primary Hand, Off-Hand, Charm (x 3), Ioun Stone (x 5).

Any item will stack with any other item. The only exception is: two items with the same name do not stack. (IE you cannot wear Ring of Protection +1 with another Ring of Protection +1)

Keep in mind, you can only wear more than 1 Ring, Charm and Ioun Stone.

Thanks! There was some confusion amoung the group, so we thought it best to get some outside oppinions! So the issue of stacking bonuses/damage is taken care of, but what about like effects? Any takers?

The cloak and robes do indeed stack. But you could not wear both the rare robes and the ultra-rare robes.

Kirk, I don't know if I understand the question. Like effects will stack as long as the token names are different. IE Gauntlets of Ogre Power stack with Belt of Ogre Power.

For example, there are many items that provide a bonus to AC, but how many, if any, can be stacked together? Could, let's say, a wizard wear the Cloak of the Mage, Robes of the Mage, Bracers of Defense, and a Ring of Protection and still retain the bonuses from all four items?

Second, can a fighter wear the Sharkstooth Armor and an Amulet of Thorns, damaging an enemy with both whenever he is damaged?

Lastly, what of items that provide the same effect? Say a player wears both a Ring of Sanctuary and a Hat of Escape; would an enemy have to make two separate Will saves in order to attack that player?

These were his specific questions. Thus far I believe we have established it to be
1. yes
2. yes
3. not sure

I think it was determined last year that Cat's Grace did not stack with Creeper Vine extract, and the same for Bull's Strength and Yew Bark Extract. If they do stack, that would be... useful.

The Ring and Hat would stack, although that is the wrong word for what this is, Bonuses stack, these would both work, as they are not stacking on top of anything. All magic items that you wear would work seperatly, such as last year we had the dragonbane surcoat, the ring of thorns and the Ring of Elemental comand air for a wopping 16 points of damage everytime Smoak hit our Mage. All magic items work seperate of each other, it just happens that that one action causes them all to work. But 2 of the same ring would not work together, hence two rings of elemental comand air wouldn't work, but one of each, air and fire would work together.

So I was looking at the spreadsheet and noticed that "Wands" fall under the special category, and thus I can only take 7 of them into a dungeon with me? That's a bit of a bummer, but I can deal. I just want to make sure that this is correct.

I've never seen anything limiting the amount of "specials" that can be taken into the dungeon. I've always thought the spreadsheet is designed to have seven Special slots to limit the overall size of the document.

Correct, we do not limit much in terms of how much you want to carry in the dungeon (no attempt at trying to determine burden and how it affects movement, etc.) But frankly the physical weight of the tokens prevents one from wanting to carry too much in the dungeon. Your arms either start to ache, or you pants start to fall down with all the weight in the pockets.

I've certainly had both problems. I have started taking very little into the dungeons. I guess that's why I've stock piled munitions, I've just stopped using them lol:side:
