TOPIC: Token Guide - Gen Con Edition

Token Guide - Gen Con Edition 14 years 10 months ago #1

Dave has updated the 2010 Token Guide to contain some recent token rulings and the Artifacts.

www.truedungeon.com/email/2010_Token_Guide_9.0.3.pdf

The link is the same as the old one, but the PDF is updated. I kept the same name since there are so many links out there now to the Token Guide. I thought it best to make sure that link would go to the latest version.

Enjoy, and thanks Dave!

Jeff

You know this defeats the point of having version numbers. What you need is to tell people to link to a single stickied forum post, like this one , and always keep that one up to date. This way people with token guide version 9.0.3 won't have to worry about if they have the new or old 9.0.3. You can change the link on the main TD site to this link as well.

i just wanted to ask about the ruling dave gave at the end of the last token guide thread. he said that any cold damage makes all the damage cold (such as adding arrow of frost or the crossbow of frost), and so a creature with 100% cold resist would take 0 damage from those attacks, but the token guide description of the flaming short bow says that the physical and fire damage are still seperate, and fire resistance will only subtract the two points of fire damage. so, which way does it really work?

What Dave said, I believe, was only in reference to the Shortbow of Frost - That weapon is entirely cold damage, whereas the Light Crossbow of Frost has a +2 cold baked in, just like the Flaming Short Bow has +2 fire on the wheel.
Blimey!

It was done, for now, for expediency sake. We will fix things in the future once we sort out the access stuff. The actual guide shows the revision number on the front cover and in the page header.

Dave

There's a typo in the description of the Dragon Tooth Amulet on page 96. It currently says, "...made from the tooth of a concurred dragon..."

It's spelled correctly in the longer description on page 46.

I guess that means that the dragon must agree (concur) with you for you to make the amulet.

Bard songs, instruments, and ranged vs. melee problem.

1. Player's guide pg 4
..."inspire" the party during combat, resulting in +1 to all combat rolls and a +1 damage to all other party members.

2. Widesth's Lute pg 76 and Masterwork Bard's Instrument pg 71
...the extra damage bonus only applies to melee weapons.

3. Ranged Attacks pg 27
Ranged attacks are treated identically to melee attacks with regards to the effects of a Bard's song or a Bless spell, except a character's Strength bonus does not add to the number hit on the attack board or the damage done.

Sooo. If ranged weapons = melee weapon, why does it not benefit from the damage boosts? Perhaps page 27 should read
Range attacks are treated to the bonus to hit with regards to the effects of a Bard's song or Bless Spell, but do not benefit from modifiers to damage from the Bard song. A character's Strength bonus doesn not add to the number hit on the attack board or the damage done.
