TOPIC: Token Release Party?

As several of you know, i drive to Carbondale and pick up my tokens. I am curious if anyone else would like to have an informal "gathering" and get your tokens at the same time. This idea has floated around for a couple of years, but that seems to be the extent of it. While i'm not sure when tokens arrive (I thought JMartin said sometime around the 15th). I was hoping the following weekend of arrival, or allowing for TD to do some sorting, the weekend after. The last weekend would be bad because of badge and hotel registration for GenCon.

Anyways...would anyone like to meet up at the Drury Inn in Marion for some kind of "gathering"? Maybe we can grab some grub at 17th St. BBQ and then get JMartin to bring our orders to the hotel so we can frantically sort/trade/ogle over. Perhaps something at the warehouse...like gaming and then sort that night. All ideas are welcome. I'm just trying to get something started.

Here is a few ideas that i had.

1. Be on the 13th and 14th or 20th and 21th.
2. I figure the first day we grub out (pay for yourself), then get tokens, then sort allll night and trade amongst ourselves. On the second day we could do our trade-ins for relics and others.

Please post your ideas and thoughts. If anyone would like to partake of this, please respond here. we might need to make reservations/arrangments for food and they would inquire about the number of people. i would like to know firm commitments by January 2. this would allow JMartin time to plan. All of this is also subject to his approval.

Would *love* to come down for something like that...
but I doubt I can justify the cost of international flights just for a weekend in Carbondale.

Hm... unless anyone wants to buy ~$1000 of tokens off me? I do have a few spare URs kicking around...



EDIT: I talked with the other half about it, and YES, I could make it for this, if it's the weekend of the 14/15th. I could not make it on the 21/22nd as we have a prior engagement.

So, if the tokens are coming out on the early side of "around the 15th", that would be awesome. If they come out the Monday after (the 16th) then.. not so much.

I would love to do this even though I am only a small 1K buyer. Only problem I could for-see is weather. Coming from Ohio in winter conditions could be horrible.

I would also like to see something at Who's Yer Con. Maybe a release event there. Selling of token and such. Not a TD event as Who's Yer Con is a free con but I bet TD could make money selling tokens!

Maybe a dry run of the new crafting game that we were told about.

Hopefully, JMartin can chime in here very soon. I'd have to ask off for the time off immediately.

I only live about 2 1/2 hours away, so I might be able to do something (pending approval from my wife, of course... ).

This sounds like a ton of fun however I certainly can't do it. I'm saving all my vacation time this year for the wedding+honeymoon.

I'm interested as well. Two to four people that play the game in my area would probably be interested and come down for this. A few more details and firm date would be a benefit for our availability and decision.

well i just got some screwy news. i have an important engagement on the 14th. no way to get out of it. i am curious about tokens possibly arriving early. it appears that my only days available now are the 7th and 8th or the 21st and 22nd. i just can't catch a break.

so how does it sound to everyone else? it appears that we have plenty of interest.

do we game at warehouse or hotel, then grab food, then grab tokens, then trade then...etc, etc, etc. what other ideas do you guys have? we would need to have some kind of plan/sequence or something if JMartin is going to embrace this. no matter what goes on, i believe food has to be involved. so lets see...

1. meet somewhere on first day for food/gaming. whichever sequencing is best.
2. do unwrapping and trading that same night.
3. do some more trading and maybe do our trades for relics and legendaries.

how does this sound to you guys?

i'll get in touch with JMartin and ask if any of this is something he is interested in and find out if he knows for sure when tokens will arrive.

then i can plan something out from there for you guys.
