TOPIC: Token Storage

Token Storage 13 years 2 months ago #1

I have been looking for a some good ways to store my tokens. Now that I have more than I ever intended, I would like to keep them more organized.

Basically what I am looking for help on is some links to products that you know work well to store tokens in both large quantities (for commons and such) and for Urs/Trade tokens. Currently I am using a hodge podge of methods, from a coin collecting book to a box with zip locks, but I need something better.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Poker chip cases tend to work well. 1000 chip cases work well for storing commons, etc, but they are incredibly heavy once filled. I use a 300 chip case for the stuff that I need to bring to Gencon.

I use two plastic "dressers" which are about 2' x 1' x 7". Each has 8 large drawers, and 14 small ones. All in all, each plastic container can hold a good 1500 tokens, and the drawers make it very easy to categorize the tokens by categories or rarities. They're $15 each and I picked them up at a nearby Ace Hardware.

The important thing to remember if you go the route of poker chip cases is that not all cases are created equal. Some are sturdier than others.

When you are sorting and categorizing them, do you have a general method. Do you do rares, UC, Commons then sort by name or just leave it by rarity?

I put the commons by trade ingredient type, like scrolls, weapons, armor, gear, etc. I categorize the uncommons and rares by the tiers I have established in my shop (check out the Trade forum). I also have different rarity gold-valued tokens in different drawers. And of course, there's an ultra-rare drawer. :)

This is the basic idea of what I'm talking about:

My current sorting system isn't great. It's called Out of the Way. I keep all of my UR tokens, combos, gold and most usable rares in my small poker chip case. I do try and sort in the 1000 chip cases by type. All the scrolls in one spot, all the gear in another, etc.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. I saw your trade thread Itamar, so I could see how the further refinement of the Tiers by drawer would help. The small Box think could work well for the space I have targeted to put the collection

What I was thinking of is something like this

plastic tray

In something like this

Casino Chip Case

I use Plano's Model 3700 prolatch tackle containers. They have adjustable compartment from 4-24/26. Extra dividers can be order from Plano for Free. I use 2 per year 1 for personal collection & 1 for tradeables. Have spares for wands, consumables, potions, scrolls. Currently have 24-38. Will hold approx 100-150 per row w/o dividers. They are approx 9X12 & 2-3 fit in a backpack nicely.

As I'm unable 2 upload pics directly 2 the forumn, pm Ur email & I send a pic or 2.
Farewell 2 those Whom helped make TD 2012 AWSOME!!

That does bring up the idea of creating a place to post pics of token collections. It's a popular thing to do for computers and gaming collections in general. I think it could help more than just me, to see, other peoples set up. And once again, thanks everyone for the feedback and ideas.

You should make a thread! I'd be glad to post an image, and I'd certainly be curious to see others'.
