TOPIC: Skull of Doom Slot

Skull of Doom Slot 12 years 1 week ago #1

Last year, the Skull of Doom could be placed in the Special Projectile Slot in the character builder. So I could carry it, and a Bow into combat... Throw the Skull for my first attack, then use the bow during the rest of the combat. This was the main reason for me acquiring the Skull in the first place.

I just built a new character and it wouldn't give me that option. I checked tokendb.com and where it used to say the Skull was slotless (as far as I can recall), it now says the Skull is used in the Mainhand slot.

I'm wondering what is correct, if there was a rule change from last year to this year, or if I just was using it wrong before? If it can no longer be used as a special projectile, then I might consider trading it away since it doesn't really do me much good with the once per combat restriction on it.

Or am I missing something that makes it super awesome?

Unless you are dealing with set items you can swap handheld items at will. Throwing the skull then switching to the bow should be perfectly legal.

Please use this thread to report any issues with the Character Generator. It helps us to keep track of them.

There is also a dedicated thread for reporting issues with the Token database .

Both the Orb of Pelor and Skull of Doom are reusable projectiles. But unlike other thrown weapons (dagger, spear, etc.), they may only be used once per combat, no matter how many copies of the token you possess. That makes them kind of oddball as far as assigning them a slot in the TDb. Since they are technically held in the hand before being thrown, they were classified as "mainhand" weapons. I realize that's somewhat arbitrary, but it seems like the closest fit.

I assure you, its TDb classification will have no impact on your ability to use it. :)

I should also note that the Special Projectile Slot in the character generator has never been noted on the party card. That doesn't mean you can't use it, it just means it's not tracked on the party card. I.e., its selectability in the Special Projectile Slot is not a reflection on your ability to use it.
