TOPIC: Sending in tokens for trade goods

Sending in tokens for trade goods 10 years 10 months ago #1

Eventually I'd like to send some tokens in for trade goods, but I'm not ready to do so quite yet. But I'd like to start bagging them up to organize them. I have some of the snack-sized bags as suggested. But what about the labels? Can I just stick any label in there or is there something specific that needs to be printed out when you place the trade order?

(it is hard to know having never placed a trade order and not being ready to place one yet)

When you place your order, it will have you print out a checklist for transmutes and a sheet of the tags for trade items. You can cut those out and place them in the bag, or I believe there is a link to a PDF somewhere in the forums that lest you print out labels.

This is the generic one I use for trade tokens. It doesn't have the newest things like the boots on it, but it works for most things you are going to need multiples of.

I have seen a number of label solutions.

The best one is to use the online version provided by TD as part of the TEP program.

There's also one or two PDFs out there with all the labels (but multiples per page, instead of a single list of each possible trade-in, so you don't have to print 10 pages to get 10 Dwarven Steel labels). These version try to keep their font clear and similar in size to the TD labels.

If you can't get anything downloaded, I've also seen people use home-made labels which work well. Again: Computer-printed in clear, legible fonts, in a size which is easy to read.

Those solutions all work well.

Things which work less well are:

* tiny scraps of paper with very tiny font which clearly state the name of the trade good but get lost in the bag of tokens

* handwritten paper labels

* writing the name of the trade good on the outside of the plastic bag with a Sharpie.

If you use any of those solutions, they should be a stop-gap for you, until you can get some clear labels printed up.

It's my understanding that TPTB strongly prefer you to use the labels that are included in your checkout receipt.

labels are encouraged(the file with labels are good enough for that). i use these because I want to have everything boxed and packed before I check out(so I dont have an extra Small flat rate box)

I completely understand that.

I do not, however, feel compelled to print off 25 pages of paper to get 25 instances of the "Darkwood Plank" label, if that's all I need.

The generic label page was used extensively at WYC with no difficulty.

I've also used my own labels (matched in size and font to the TD labels) when the TEP checkout receipt refused to print for me as anything other than a bunch of random characters.

Doesn't the TEP program just print the labels you need? That's always been my experience, that it would print 1 page with 25 Darkwood Plank labels if needed.

Does your printer driver allow you to select which pages print? E.g., only print page #4 out of 25. Most printers have this option, but you might need to look for it in the Printer Preference dialog.

I haven't been able to get the TEP official documents to print on my printer properly at all. Not sure if it's a Mac vs PC thing, or the way my Mac talks to our non-mac network printer, or some strange Gremlins in the system.

Druegar - Yes, I can print "Page 4 only" of 25... but if there's a single page which has all that year's transmute & trade tokens listed on it, and each one is only listed one time, I need to print the whole thing multiple times to get the official labels.

Note: I don't see the link anymore, but the one I used to use was available on the TD site to click on to print labels. It's the same page we had at WYC (which didn't include the 2014 transmute labels)
