TOPIC: Gold piece tokens

Gold piece tokens 9 years 10 months ago #1

Hi I bought a couple of random 2015 token packs and one was a token with a gold piece value. I was wondering what can we buy with these "gold pieces" and can we buy the items before we start our True Dungeon run and what is the average cost of items we are able to buy if anything?

Thanks

Welcome to True Dungeon.

From the token database ( www.tokendb.com ): Gold Piece or GP equivalent tokens may be hoarded as treasure, traded with other adventurers (big-time token collectors may be especially interested in GP), exchanged for NPC services outside of the adventure, used as currency to bid on items in the True Dungeon auction, or exchanged for transmuted tokens on www.truedungeon.com/transmuted . On very rare occasions, certain NPCs within the adventure may be influenced by the offering of riches.

So you cannot buy anything for your gold token but you may be able to trade your few players for something. Trader on average value 1GP at about 2 cents to 2 and half cents. So 100 is worth 2 to $2.50. You may be able to get a rare weapon for about that.

Or you can play games with your gold!

These games are a fun way to trade your gold for tokens you may want.

As an example,
I run Plinko. Your gold becomes random tokens. There are no ways to lose in my game. Your worst case scenario in my game is you trade a common for a common.

Gold is used for transmuting items into other items. If you think you might get into transmuting hold on to the gold. If you need gear, look me up I can just give you gear that you might need for the class you want to play.

GenCon will throw you out of the convention center and revoke your badge if you sell stuff for cash without buying a vendor badge. Some people risk it, but the consequences can be severe.

But they let us trade tokens without hassle. Gold is an unofficial currency we can use without fear, and it can usually be sold for cash through the mail or across the street, as Jedibcg said above, because the big transmutes require a lot of gold.

My guess is that you should be able to trade common gold token for another common token, and a uncommon gold token for another uncommon token. Rares might get more complicated. Also depends on how picky you are. The others can correct me if my estimate is off.

Common's have black text, and Uncommons have green text.

Also the Plinko game is fun.

I would agree with that. Rares is where it does get tricky because some of them are worth more than the highest gold piece on a rare 250GP or about $5. Though you can buy a rare weapon or armor for that (maybe 2) the Bracers of Cold or IS Faceted Amber are likely to be a bit more.

Slightly unrelated note, the paypal mobile app on smart phones comes in handy when you need to finish a trade and cant/dont want to step outside.
We're all the kind of people who enjoy the game on a "meta" level. We like talking about the game year-round. We buy tokens. We enjoy crafting. We get together during the off-season if we can. We are a very skewed demographic that way. -Raven

Where do you run your Plinko game?

I've very nearly nailed down my schedule for this year so I'm going to try and post times.

Location varies a bit but I'm either inside the story scape somewhere or just outside the doors. Its a fairly large setup so its somewhat hard to miss, also I "chant" to people passing by, so you're likely to hear me.

Little known fact but Plinko actually runs right at or very near a loss. I do it because its fun and I like adding atmosphere and mostly because I liked having an answer the age old question of "what do I do with my gold?". So if you just want more tokens its your best bet shy of someone just outright giving you stuff.

As for trading:
As its been stated, as long as your keeping your rarities close to the same the trade is likely fair enough. Common for Common and so on.

Fun thing with plinko is your common could become a rare or multiple rares.... and its a wonder it doesn't run at a pure loss eh? :) LOL
My rarity token mix is the same mix that you get in a starting pack.(7/2/1) Although to be honest it often ends up better as I often add more rares than I am supposed to.
