TOPIC: Transmuted Token Fate?

Transmuted Token Fate? 10 years 2 months ago #1

Been kinda wondering, what does Jeff do with all the tokens we send back in to him? I realize many of the uncommon's, rares and UR's end up in the treasure draw box. And if memory serves, he separates out, repacks the current years and sells them again. All good and expected.

But after the given year is up, what of the commons? Does he peal the sticker off them and paste the new one on? Or they end up in some massive barrel stored?

They end up in a Landfill around the area. I'm willing to help any token expedition! ;)

Shhh...

Don't tell them about the Token Golem. ;)
D&D teaches all the important lessons in life - the low blow, the cheap shot, the back stab, the double cross. - Jerry Marsischky

Let them trap us. We have our swords. - Elric of Melnibone.

You try to get them to play the game, but all they want to do is play the rules. - Ardak Kumerian

I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend - Faramir

I remember Smoak's first appearance and the huge pile of Tokens surrounding her.

The stories about the final fates of some of the tokens can lead a grown man or woman to cry. I remember the story about a pile of woodie 2003/4 rare weapon tokens being tossed in the fire.

On the other hand, perhaps nearly all of them are in a huge vault somewhere, and Jeff goes swimming in them like Scrooge McDuck! ;)

I certainly hope not - unless a lot of care and effort went into this it would mean some rares are more rare than others - because, for example, much fewer people are going to transmute a Mystic Mushroom or Bracers of Frost than Drow Darkspike, Drow Assassin Armor, Helm of Dark Visage, and Shield of Refraction.

During transmuting... They get separated. Commons ( non current year tokens) are destroyed. Uncommons and rares are then used for treasure draws for that year

Chad, are only the uncommons and rares from the current year used for treasure draws? I don't recall seeing any older tokens in the boxes recently. If the older tokens aren't used in the treasure boxes, what happens to the past year uncommons and rares after transmuting?

I wonder if some commons might be very hard for collectors to get in the future, if the vast majority are turned in for transmuting and destroyed. :)

Wow - so all non-current year tokens that are turned in for transmuting are destroyed. Does that include Ultra-Rares and special tokens like Rod Segments and monster ingredient tokens? It seems like a waste, I for one wouldn't mind at all if Rares and Uncommons (and UR's and special tokens) from past years were included in the treasure boxes instead of destroyed.

I have no idea about the URs and rod segments. Those I have to Dave and they went into special container.

Mike, read you're messages.

And if I'm understanding Lazlo correctly.

The Non year Commons get destroyed.

All others end up in the treasure box?

If true, that would make older commons worth more in trade deals if they don't get reprinted.
