TOPIC: Polymorph and Weapons

Polymorph and Weapons 10 years 2 weeks ago #1

Just a curiosity question. A druid uses a +2 Keen Scimitar for a melee weapon. Now takes a potion polymorph cobra. The +2 is maintained, with the argument that the weapon is part of the polymorphed material.

So, should the keen part of the weapon description also transfer? Should the polymorphed druid critical on 19 and 20?

The answer should probably be no, but there is an argument to be made the other way.

The + on the weapon wheels are baked into the party card.
So when the druid polymorphs that bonus gets added in. Any wording specific to the weapon would be lost.

So no the druid wouldn't be keen, but she'd get the +2 that was built in, in addition to the melee damage bonus she'd have from +STR gear.

Basically, polymorph token plus whatever it says on the sheet for melee to hit and damage.

Now, if there was a weapon that made you immune to surprise you'd get that because its a check box on the party card.

Per Jeff, no.
To make things easier on the DM, the only things that will transfer are the combat stats recorded on the party card.

Thank you for checking. Your answer makes sense, and I agree with it. I thought it would be an interesting D&D theoretical discussion, but alas only in my mind. Lol.

Thanks!

OH LOL if you wanted a debate I could have gone theological with you but I was fairly certain how the ruling would come down and I was right.
