TOPIC: Prefered way to reach 5th level...

I was just curious as how everyone gets to 5th. I don't remember who, but someone mention picking the Might set since their charm and ring slots were filled. Is anyone changing their builds to use RoH instead of CoH?

I got lucky with getting the ring a few years ago and have used it since. The other ring slot tends to be a Ring of Riches.

Never had the might set, but tended to borrow from a friend, or borrow the charm.

Charm slots are locked for me and the might set is not the optimal choice for my preferred builds

My friend Myke uses the Might set.

My friend Fox uses the Charm of Heroism (lucky pull in 2013!) for his Dwarf Fighter.

I use my Ring of Heroism (Golden Ticket bonus from 2013) when playing Rogue...

and I use the Eldritch Duo when playing Ranger.

I've also used my Ro7P voucher to play Assassin, so I could get to 5th level that way, on one run where I wanted to maximize all my slots for damage output (the first time I did a Doubledown run.)

My son uses the Eldritch Set for his Druid build.

I currently use charm as SRoEC and RoP+4 take my two ring slots. I hope that next year the 3 piece bonus on Eldritch is +1 level for the rest of the classes and if so that will free up one charm slot for me to add a second cloak (Charm of Broaching/Cloak of Shadowskin) then will reduce my AC and equip Ring of Frost and Bracers of Fire instead of the 7 AC I get in my build from those slots.

I'd love to get the Ring, but to maintain budget I'm thinking I'm going to have to go Medallion

I use the Charm or Ring, depending on the build I choose. I have Might set as well, but currently not using all three pieces in any one build.

Two years ago I had 4 sets of Might to get our Rogue, Pally, Monk and Ranger to 5th level and the Druid with the Eldritch set. I sold off 3 set before Gen Con leaving only the Pally and the Druid at 5.

Next year we will have 2 Eldritch sets and 8 Ring of Heroism. If I had Charm Necklaces then I would love the Charms of Heroism.

I too pulled a CoH in 2013 when I first started playing, but I found I really needed flexibility in my charm slot for my Rogue and Barbarian builds. I traded it away for a RoH and some other URs I needed. It hurt to trade away my first 1% pull, but it was really the best decision for me.

On my runs I got targeted once at a 29 AC during the con except in grind. On a run where the first hit per room won't matter I am not worried about being the glass cannon with a 22 AC. The trade off with more boot damage would be a extra 6 damage per slide. 8 extra if I drop synergy token. I will do this only once I've survived the dungeon at least once.
