TOPIC: How many sets of monster bits is enough?

How many sets of monster bits is enough? 7 years 10 months ago #1

Hi, been playing for a few years and did my first transmute this year. I managed to pull 3 nuggets, 2 horns, 1 eye, and 1 venom. I was wondering if I should try to get 2 complete sets of bits for future transmutes? Wasn't sure if 1 set was enough based on others opinions.

Thanks

usually only 1 set is required for the story line item. But there might be other transmutes next year that require specific bits so a second set couldnt hurt. Really depends on what you want to make though.

I try to get a minimum of 2... one each for my wife and I. It's completely up to you.

5... or more... just in case.

My suggestion for you is 2 but if you are the only player in your immediate group 1 would be adequate.

Minimum of one complete set as there is usually a combo token at the end of a story arc.

It is often wise to have a second set as sometimes there is a recipe that requires one or two bit from a specific year. See the Fallen Star Mushroom., for example.
D&D teaches all the important lessons in life - the low blow, the cheap shot, the back stab, the double cross. - Jerry Marsischky

Let them trap us. We have our swords. - Elric of Melnibone.

You try to get them to play the game, but all they want to do is play the rules. - Ardak Kumerian

I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend - Faramir

One set for each player character you plan to equip with item X
Specific ones for some transmute items until the items are known no idea on which ones to keep (do 2 sets)
Ten random for a Golden Fleece (can come for the ones not used for specific transmutes).
Keep some for the next two years to trade 2-1 for bits you don't get in pulls those upcoming years.

You can't have too many.

I get at least four.
One each for my wife and me.
One for the collection. (This is pure extravagance. They plummet in value once the cycle is complete, but they're hard to find, too.)
One just in case.

In transmuting, I use gold instead of bits when I can.

My current plan is to hang on to 20 of each. 10 for making whatever might be making as a multiyear and 10 for making whatever next year's transmute is just in case it is monster specific. If there is no monster required transmutes then I will sell or mulch the extra 10.
