TOPIC: Update on 2027 Token Shipping Date

It was bound to happen one of these years...and it appears that this is that year.

The LA port is extremely busy right now due to several factors. This has greatly slowed down our container's delivery, and it is taking much longer than expected to get the tokens to Carbondale.

Since the situation is unpredictable at the current moment, I cannot realistically put a good date on when we will receive the tokens. I am fairly sure we won't have the tokens ready to ship when we open pre-orders on Sept. 29th. I am hoping we start shipping a week later than that on Monday, Oct. 5th. However, at this point, given the uncertainty of the situation, the shipment might not happen until after GHC. At this point, I am not going to guess anything. However, I will give more updates as things progress.

I am very sorry for the delay, and we will do all we can to ship out all orders ASAP. Stay tuned for more updates as this murky situation becomes more clear. Thank you for your support and patience!

One thing that came up on Discord: People were very much looking forward to transmuting the Coin of Wealth at Gamehole Con, because it removes a major risk in sending *mumbles* dollars worth of ingredients via USPS.

At least once in the past, TD has offered a "transmute drop off" option where players could hand over ingredients with completed forms at the con and get the resulting transmutes shipped after the show. Would it make sense to plan for that system as a contingency?

That removes the major risk on the player side of a potential lost shipment on the way to Carbondale. Lost shipments from Carbondale -> players are significantly easier to remediate.

Edit: Noted that Coin of Wealth requires some 2027 ingredients. So any contingency would need to include:
* Getting specific auction winner orders onto the trucks
* Getting those orders into their hands
* Allowing drop off

What are our options for the people that booked travel and planned trips to craft our CoW's in person, since I feel that there are many of us who only really planned on making the trip to GHC to craft the CoW in the first place?

As for dropping off ingredients, the main issue is that those of us dropping things off would be missing a key ingredient in a Bead of Need in order to make the CoW.

Jeff, this is something that is absolutely out of your control. Thanks for letting us know, and I'll be fine with getting the tokens whenever they arrive.

Will tokens still be available to buy at GHC? Like, would there be an avenue to buy a bead of need in some way, so that people can still make their CoW at GHC?

In terms of CoW transmute concerns, I’d suggest this as a worst case contingency plan which assumes the shipment is delayed past your packing up the trucks.

(1) Allow people to drop off their CoW transmutes and record the IOU onsite.
(2) Sell Bead of Need IOU cards (similar to what some of us got for Beads of Greed when supply ran low) onsite, allowing people to complete their transmute on site.
(3) Ship the CoWs out after GHC.

Easy peasy. The only downside is that some people will end up with an extra Bead, but honestly the Bead is going to be the most tradable token in the 2027 set so I doubt people in this situation will be too upset about landing an extra.

Since orders haven't been placed yet, I'd be happy to let people switch any Beads of Need they chose as PYPs for other URs, and I'm assuming all the other sellers would do likewise.
