Out of curiosity, are Green completion tokens considered "Uncommon?

Looks like yes. For example:

Complete list

What about Elemental Eldritch tokens? Those have a green backing. That counts, right?
What about a TaMor's +4 Mithral Bracers? That has a green swirly effect. That should count, right?
What about Greenbrye and Greentowne ? Those have the word "green" in them. That should count, right?

Well, the Green with Envy group are implementing a house rule/restriction, so they are free to define it however they like. Which is why I inquired about their interpretation of "Uncommon."

Certain tokens don't fit neatly into the traditional definition of rarity, including Completion tokens and Monster Trophies. Unless you think it would be accurate telling newbies that Monster Trophies are "Common" because they have black ink.

A related question (for Green with Envy) is what to do with tokens that change rarity over time. Are you only able to use a token if that specific token was common/uncommon the year it was printed? Or can you use a different token to proxy a version of that token that is valid. This comes up with some CCG's, which allow you to substitute an alternate version of a card.

Not sure what is hard about figuring out what is uncommon. Between tokendb and the annual token reference book, it looks pretty straightforward to me.

Has there actually ever been a token that has retroactively changed rarity?

I believe they are only allowing common and uncommon tokens from the 2015 token set, which would address many of your questions. The question about using the 2015 Uncommon Participation Token is still valid though.

That depends on your definition of "retroactively changed". Some tokens have been printed at more than one rarity (e.g., Anti-toxin, Potion Cure Lt. Wounds, Scroll Cure Lt. Wounds), sometimes in the same year, but they always have different colored titles. In most cases, the change in rarity happened with later printings. However, there has never been a token that was rarity X and literally, that exact same physical token was later changed to rarity Y.
Have you looked it up in the TDb?

The 2015 GREEN with Envy run will be Into the Underdark on Sunday at 1PM

The rules are as follows:
(Updated) Due to the limited 2015 token pool affecting some classes we've changed to allow any year common/uncommon tokens. As part of this change we removed the access to 1 rare token. These builds will be 100% common and uncommon tokens only!

Treasure Enhancing/Guaranteeing tokens allowed.
All other tokens must be current year COMMON or UNCOMMON ONLY!

These runs will be NIGHTMARE runs.

Given the token limitations it is VERY likely that people WILL DIE. This is not for the faint of heart, if you have ANY issues with dying DO NOT RUN.

I will keep a tentative tally of players for the moment and grab player payments once the slot has been secured.

PM me if you are interested.

Current Run -
Arcanist Kolixela - Wizard - PAID
Kirk Bauer - Any Non Skill Check (Ranger pref)- PAID
Dave the Barbarian - Barbarian - PAID
Matt Humpolick - Fighter - PAID
Master Ed - Druid - PAID
Beertram - Maybe Rogue - PAID
Lodestone - Bard OR Cleric - PAID

Ed, are you sure? The guidelines on the first post say:

"Treasure Enhancing/Guaranteeing tokens allowed.
All other tokens must be current year COMMON or UNCOMMON ONLY!"

Or are you saying that you already have 10 Charms of Avarice for the group? Which wouldn't surprise me given some of the participants. :)

Damn, this looks like a lot of fun, particularly to run with some of the forumites. Sundays usually my last dealers hall zerg rush with friends though. Damn, decisions, decisions x.x

Yeah, due to the increase in difficulty of Nightmare and the lack of some slots being available in UC/C for 2015 on the classes - Arcanist has opened it up to any year UC/C for equipment. I am sure he will get the thread updated when he has a moment.

Yeah, I think we are good on CoA ;-)

I'm tempted to join as well except:

1. I don't want to burn so many consumables

2. Sunday runs are often non-ideal since TD commonly runs out of participation tokens and often the treasure generators are out of good stuff by then

Come on - take a chance! We are doing it not for the treasure (hey, if we get any great). It is more about trying to find the best UC/C for the group and handle the new Nightmare - aka a Challenge.

To be clear it has been changed -- the build and consumables can be common or uncommon tokens from any year, including completion tokens.

And I'm 99% sure we collectively have ten Charms of Avarice. I have five of them myself (one for me and four extras).
My online token shop: www.tdtavern.com

We buy, sell, and trade True Dungeon tokens. We also have a convenient consignment program where you can sell your own tokens.

We Have the 10 CoA.

I will update the first poat about the year restriction.

I'm hesitant on the completion tokens, many of them feel more powerful than their rarity. Is the a specific one in question?
