What's new in Auction #2
Auction #2 is live now, and while you're bidding I wanted to walk through everything that's
changed on the site since Auction #1 that affects how bidding actually works for you. It's been
a busy week behind the scenes — here's the short version.
Bid now at Utaku's Auction Block
Bidding now always lands on a clean price
Max bids are automatically rounded to a standard increment based on price: 25¢ steps under $10, $1 steps from $10–$100, and $5 steps above $100. If you type in something off that grid (like $4.10), it rounds down to the nearest valid step before it's submitted, so nobody ends up winning at an odd, off-grid price anymore. Both bid forms explain this up front and'll tell you if your price got rounded.
Real login for anything sensitive
Your bidder name (like "Silver Falcon 08") is public on the leaderboards, so it was never meant to double as a password. There's now a real login — email + password — for anything that touches your personal info: shipping address, payment method, and shipment holds. I issue the first password myself (just ask), and you'll set your own the first time you use it. Look for
Log in at the top of the page — it now shows up any time you're not actually logged in (before, it could disappear once you'd registered even if you'd never logged in — that's fixed), and a new
Log out link sits right next to Bidder Tools once you are.
Bidder Tools: handle your own account
Once you're logged in,
Bidder Tools is a full page with three tabs:
- Profile — your payment preference, shipping address, and whether you want me to hold your shipment to combine with a future auction.
- Orders — every auction you've won something in, current or past, with your total, how much you saved vs. market average, and where things stand on payment/shipping.
- Messages — a quick note straight to me, logged right in your account instead of needing email.
Closing out a win is now mostly self-serve
Once you win something, an Auction Summary pops up automatically (or reopen it anytime from Bidder Tools → Orders) where you can confirm or edit your shipping address and payment method, pay directly via PayPal or Venmo with your total already filled in, and enter your picks right there if you won a Pick Your Purple Ultra Rare — no more waiting on a reply email for that. My Bids still shows where you stand while an auction's open; once it closes, the full shipping/payment/picks details move to that auction's own Auction Results page.
