2026 Wonder, Eldritch & Special Effects 1 month 2 weeks ago #1

Please share your feedback on these 2026 effects:

Wonder Effect
+3 to any Incense effect. Censer of Divine Aid may also be used to gain a total of +5.

Eldritch Effect
Negates Construct Critical immunity and extends Crit Range to 19-20.

Special Effect
Saintly Subtype: +4 Sacred damage & immune to undead touch attacks

Thanks a bunch!

Looking at the history of effects in tokendb.com/token/amulet-of-wonder/ effects (for 2-Hour Adventures/Dungeon), most of them through the years have provided a bonus just for equipping the Wonder token.

I was disappointed to see effects for 2023 2-Hour Adventures and 2025 2-Hour Adventures that only worked with the use of consumables, but for something that changes every year you can't win 'em all, and I ended up just not using my Wonder token those years. I'm really disappointed to see yet another proposed effect (second in a row) that only boosts consumables. :(

+1

A member of my group has let his Amulet of Wonder sit on a shelf all year. Not only did it require consumables, but when I offered him one of my spare runestones he took a pass since there are so many better options in the slot (and he doesn’t own anything better than a UR in that slot).

A token like this requiring consumables in an era of VTD is also odd, I think.

Finally, unlike the runestone situation. these consumables are transmutes, and not particularly cheap ones… for example:

any Uncommon Ring
1× Alchemist’s Ink
1× Alchemist’s Parchment
1× Darkwood Plank
1× Dwarven Steel
1× Minotaur Hide
1× Mystic Silk
1× Philosopher’s Stone
1,000 GP Gold Bar

I would not use an Amulet of Wonder in 2026 if I had one. I know my friend would not either.

While I agree it will be difficult to use transmuted consumables to get the Wonder effect, +3 or +5 bonus is relic or legendary level strength. I will definitely use it for an epic or true grind run.

Have to keep in mind that it may be a lot harder to make the insense this year due to the scarcity of 2026 tokens. They are a lot harder to come by, due to the tariff situation.

2026 tokens aren't required to transmute Incense tokens, are they?

Nope. You need any ioun stone, uncommon ring or dust. The 3* ones use the 2025 monster bits.

Fair enough but that’s a very niche use case.

I can’t think of another token in the game that requires you to expend $20 in resources to take advantage of it, outside of directly deciding to use a consumable. The only thing that comes close is the 1K gold bar requirement to use the Uber Mark to adopt another power not listed on the token.

The Wonder effect should be straight up good (and “cool”) at the UR level without needing to expend additional resources to use the token.

How about this for the Wonder Effect?

Wonder Effect (only one of the following three):
Gain the Incense bonus for an incense token you have with you without turning the incense token in, or
Turn in an incense Token and gain +3 to the Incense effect, or
Turn in an incense Token and have a Censer of Divine Aid to gain +5 to the Incense effect.

I won't be using my Totem of Wonder effect if it requires using consumables. With the amount of crunch we have to gear up and transmute its just not worth burning consumables for it.

I do like the idea of using the incense without turning in. With how the loot works this year there won't be a lot of incense going out in loot.

Oops forgot they were a transmute, still the same issue. I had planned to make some, but now need my monster bits for fleece. Though I would still make one if I could use it for the year without turning in. Which also leads into the usefulness of Censor of Devine Aid.
