I've been thinking about the different levels, and the rewards that go with those levels.
I know that the higher difficulties having better rewards led to some behavior that was not aligned with the goals of the game overall, but I was thinking... this may not need to be associated with the difficulty, but what if players gained class-specific experience as well as general experience?
Since we know what class each player runs/has run, they could accumulate class-specific experience that could lead to special rewards.
On the higher end, the ability to design/give input for an upcoming token for that class would be pretty neat, for example. There could also be annual leaderboards for each class which might encourage more class diversity (or focus) so that you could end up placing for a class. By making it annual, it would also encourage newer players to participate and compete, since it would not have the legacy advantage since the rankings reset each year.
Unlike with repeated events not giving general XP, they COULD give class-specific XP (if it's a different class) to give one more incentive to play multiple times but also to change classes.
Anyway, just spitballing, but I feel like there's a lot of potential with this, and it'd be worth discussing.
