In my opinion, the prices are in line with other experience activities. 56 for 2 hours (I could argue 3 because of the coach's room and draws) is between the escape room which is $29 for an hour and breakout which is $24 an hour. 3 hour classes at Conner Prairie are also $55. Cooking classes run about $65 for about the same time frame. Glassblowing is even more expensive,

Coaches room and training is calculated in. You have 12 minutes in each of 7 rooms so that is 84 minutes. There is 24 minutes in the coaches room and 12 in the training so that is what gets you to 120. So unless treasure draws are taking you an hour it is no where close to three hours. For Veterans training room is unneeded and coaching takes no time because they show up with pre-printed sheets. I am not arguing that is only 84 minutes worth of entertainment, but that could be argued.

I was counting the hour in the party room getting organized and chit chatting before the official coaching started. Sorry for the confusion. I also hadn't figured in the resale value of the treasure pulls if we are wanting to throw that variable in.

If you want to calculate resale, do you want to calculate in the cost of tokens to do higher levels for better completion tokens or treasure tokens so you have more than 3 pulls?

I am talking entertainment value so I would not count resales, but maybe it is entertaining to resale so it should be counted???. Since the chit chat time is not part of the event I don't think you should count it any more than counting standing in line to get movie tickets should count as entertainment for the movie. Again just my two cents.

You only have 30 minutes minutes available prior to the official start time. Though sometimes you can get in earlier when there is a bubble.

But treasure draws and sorting add some time at the end.

Has it been established that the move to LOS is costing TD more money?

I have no idea, and I didn't mean to imply that renting LOS costs more than any of the other halls in the main convention center. It could be less for all I know. I hope so, considering it's less convenient and accessible.

I'm just saying that I'm sure the rent (and some other expenses) is the same whether it's actively used 2.4 or 24 hours a day.

I suspect a high likelihood that LOS would charge more for 24 hour access due to the need to staff more security, if for no other reason. Assuming that they even offer that option.

Paying for more hours of security would be a variable cost, not a fixed cost.

So as someone who is part of the new crowd, I walked in last year paying 52 and did 2 runs. It was pretty much the only event I did all year and had I not had someone invite me I wouldn't have started because of the money. However I feel the cost is worth it for more than one reason. I've made a lot of great friends I would not have made otherwise. I have also convinced 5 of my friends (all of us are in our 20's and most of us are still in college) to join me. They went on a run at WYC with me and fell in love just as I did and now I'm on the forums working out runs for this year. The experience I get from TD isn't limited to my runs. That's what I pay for sure, but I've gained more than that. I get to learn about the history of this amazing game that's been going on longer than I knew about, I get to hear about all your awesome stories and create my own. I get to tell people about this amazing adventure I get to be a part of and help bring new people in. I wish I had known about the price sooner. But now that I knkw I'll be doing two volunteer shifts at GenCon to help with my runs. I have also invited my friends to volunteer some of whom will be. TD has given me more than what I expected and I have had more fun adventuring than I thought possible. I think the price for now is worth it but soon it will be harder for me to justify doing 2 runs let alone trying to do 4 and a grind so I see everything there is to see. But most of that has to do with my age and income.

You forgot the extra 30 minutes of getting their early to grab the Ranger card only to have someone blow in 5 minutes before and make puppy dog eyes about how they are really well set up for Ranger.
