How do saving throws work? If my Fortitude save is 29 how can I not pass it? On a 1 only?

Depending on the level of difficulty you play the effect can often require a saving throw higher than 20. Your dice roll is added to your 29 and that needs to meet or exceed the target.

Having said that a 29 is pretty good and unless you're playing epic or mythic difficulty you probably would need a 1 to fail.
