TOPIC: Reminder on Spellbook creation

Just a reminder that spellbook creation was bumped from 2021 to 2022 token creation. Hopefully something simple like

May cast a Common/Uncommon scroll as a spell replacing a level 1 spell
May cast a Rare or higher scroll as a spell replacing a level 2 spell

I think this reminder is great. I'd really hate to see this get rushed and possibly delayed yet again.

I would like to get Jeff's high level thoughts on the Spellbook design. I think we've been assuming that it would work in conjunction with scrolls. That makes a lot of sense to me and I support that. But, it would be nice if Jeff indicated that it aligned with his thoughts. Otherwise, we could end up spending a lot of time going down an irrelevant path.

You could be right, I really don't recall the details. Might try to do some research later. But this is why I'm hoping Jeff can give us a direction in which to head. Certainly, we can brainstorm from a blank sheet of paper or move forward based on assumptions. I'd just rather know if we're going in a completely different direction and not waste time needlessly debating things that aren't in his design plans to begin with. We tend to do that with some frequency.

I would prefer to see the updated character cards to be able to better fit a spellbook into the design of wizards and bards.

This would allow more folks to do runs with a revised character card that is better instead of a weaker revised character card since folks would push for more powerful spellbooks.

I would also like to see how Intelligence and Wisdom might be used regarding Bead and Spellbook with the new character card designs before heading down the Spellbook path.

From my perspective, we've been hearing about the brave new tomorrow of redesigned characters, and INT/WIS/CHA mattering for several seasons now with very little update. TPTB don't seem committed to that idea on any particular timeframe - last year we went from a statement Wizards would be redesigned last year, to a statement it would be this year, to a statement it was no longer under consideration.

I'd prefer not to block fun token development ideas behind things that may never happen, and/or have no timeline associated with them, on the basis that it might foul up those things.

That is very true. Thanks for reminding me of the past. Agree we should move ahead and not count on any character card updates for 2022 token design inputs.

I would propose that folks be able to turn in scrolls to develop their spell books and poem books.

A transmute that as it goes from 3 star (common scrolls) to 4 star (common and uncommon scrolls) to legendary (common, uncommon and rare scrolls) you can add more and more scrolls to the token as a cost of GP commensurate with the transmute Maybe 100 GP for common, 500 GP for uncommon and 2K for rare..

This would allow tailoring the books for individual play style and could be used to swap out one spell on the character card for using one out of the book (without removing the spell from the book)
