TOPIC: What are the rules for have a props in the run

Hi there does anyone know what is allowed and not allowed to bring in for props in runs or gencon in general? A friend of mine made this wooden dagger for me to keep my weapon token in while doing the run and for cosplay, I would have it sheathed at the waste and not ever take it out its more to have my weapon token handy and me and a few friends are dressing up for our run.

The rules for Gen Con are:
"Fantasy or sci-fi/futuristic weapons are allowed so long as they do not resemble actual historical or modern weapons and are handled with respect for the safety and personal space of other attendees."

That sounds very subjective. Several years back the reward for being on the GT runs were plastic weapons.

I think (Let me stress think) that the sword is fine for Gen Con rules. You should check their page to be 100%, but I thought it was no actual weapons and nothing that looks like an actual weapon (no fake guns). You should be fine with that for TD.

Yeah the rule was a little vague to me so was hoping someone might have some personal experience or insight.

From TD's perspective, the Player's Handbook on page 55 (under Non-Character Equipment) says:

Large props and/or big costumes are a nuisance for you and your fellow players. Don’t bring them with you on your TD adventure.

Yeah, Jeff said we had to carry the sword on the run to enjoy it's benefit. Here's a picture of me with that sword on a run.

I know - just being a trouble maker

I’ve seen people bring guitars through, prop/foam weapons, full wheeled cases, folios full of tokens.

My advice would be: make sure it abides by the rules as stated above by other posters.

As well as: remember that TD is played with your hands and it’s a pain in the ass to handle a prop and also slide tokens. If you can have it tied to your belt or holstered would be best. Otherwise you’re going to have a hard time juggling sliding your hit points, tokens and needing two hands for puzzle mechanics. Anything you put down on the floor risks being lost and forgotten. So no large things! (Minus the inflatable turkey leg, that is always a recommendation)

If it’s hands free you should have no problems.
