Hedgehogs vs True Grind: yes, we really are that crazy!

BeLinda has all 10 tickets, so payments should go to her, but I'm coordinating sign-ups; post here with class preferences if you'd like to join! Cost is $82 each (to cover GHC transaction fees).

note: priority will be given to regulars for the first few days of sign-ups, but we also love new recruits!

Order of the Hedgehog precepts:

• win as many combats as possible using ONLY Retribution damage (no attacking)
• mercilessly attack any foes too cowardly to engage us in melee
• must consent to combat-related spoilers
• Nightmare difficulty

Note that hedgehogs typically do not equip Charms of Awakened Synergy because we need that slot for other things.

Build for high RD , low AC (12 is usually good), and at least some melee DR .

Remember you must actually take at least 1 point of melee damage per hit in order to inflict RD (so too much melee DR is counterproductive), but if you get hit 10 or 15 times then each point of melee DR you equip is worth 10 or 15 hp!

Ear: Earcuff of Ramparts
Neck: Amulet of Thorns
Torso: Plate of the Forge (Cleric, Fighters & Paladin) or Scorpion Chitin Armor
Hands: Berserker Gloves
Back: Cloak of Retribution, Cloak of the Cacti
Waist: Belt of Thorns or Belt of Retribution
Shins: Greaves of the Stalwart
Charm: Charm of the Hedgehog
Charm: Charm of Thorny Barbs
Charm: Charm of Thorns
Charm: Charm of Barbs
Underling: Underling Cleric
(various): Death Knight set

Looking forward to this - first grind run this year. I see the fighter classes are already taken so what else is recommended? Also, what +1 levels are we trying to achieve per character?

Speaking only for myself, I don’t have a UR Special to turn in, so I don’t plan to participate in the level-boosting stuff.

I typically play Fighter in hedgehog runs, but could switch to Ranger if you’d prefer Fighter.

We definitely want a Bard, currently tentatively Rachel but she and Wade have both indicated they are happy to play any class. Healers are covered, so at this point I think it's pretty much whatever you'd most like to build for.

I personally don't have enough distinct +level tokens to warrant spending a UR special -- especially because I'll be wearing four Loki's curses to this run that get in the way of my Eldritch set! (Thanks again to BeLinda for loaning me a totem so I won't also have to spend a finger slot on RoH)

Ooh - that would work good for me so I can use my death knight equipment for the bonus retribution if you have a Ranger build that works for you. Do the Loki's curses help in any way for grind?

Nope, I expect them to hinder my build significantly.
I mean, they might "help" by providing extra entertainment value... but the reason I'm wearing them is that this will be my first in-person run since receiving them!
