TOPIC: Changes to How Mark of Enlightenment Tokens Will Be Done

Due to some feedback from players who were not properly informed by me regarding how Mark of Enlightenment was going to work. We had finally posted that each token would be "Soulforged" to specific people, but now we are going back to these tokens being "Crafted By".

Since we are making these changes, we might as well take the opportunity to make things cooler. So, this is the plan.

Starting around Nov. 1st, 2025 a transmuter can transmute a Mark of Enlightenment token. In addition to providing the name they want to put on the token as "Crafted By", the transmuter will pick from a list of token effects/variable that will be printed on their token. So when the token is created, not only will it have the crafters name, but it will also have a custom effect printed, too.

For example, let's say all Mark of Enlightenment tokens have a static +3 bonus, but what it applies to is decided by a transmuter picking from a list of variables.

Locked Variable: +3
List One: Fire, Cold, Shock, Darkrift, Poison
List Two: Melee, Missile, Spell

Thus, a transmuter could make a Mark of Enlightenment that gives +3 Cold damage to Melee attacks.

The token can be used by another who possesses it since it won't be Soulforged as previously announced.

I apologize for the change in plans, but this appears to be the best course to take. In the future, I will take pains to be more clear and forthcoming.

Jeff, that is very cool. You probably need to scale back the Mark of the Tenets some, as this should be the most powerful Mark and I think it's coming in 2nd place currently.

Is the proposal actually choose at crafting, or is it meant to be modular?

I'm hoping for modular.

My only question on the options is how would it work in relation to spells? Just because I pick +3 Shock damage to spells, typically the spell I cast converts all the spell energy into whatever type of spell it is.

Question 1) Is this variable effect replacing the proposed Enlightenment power, or in addition to it?

Question 2) In this version, how much room is there for our names? Is it about a 7, 10, or 12 character limit?

As Mike said, I would prefer the current Mark of Tenet power over a +3 damage bonus, unless Enlightenment added more to this token.

I guess for Spells, the token can just say "+3 to Spell damage".

Yes...this is you going into the Shrine and telling them which boost you want to be Enlightened with.

I dunno...probably around two names with each having no more than 9 letters. Something like
McOgre
Ogresnot
would fit.

This is just a sample damage idea -- not the final numbers. So we can make both of them somewhat balanced...so maybe you pick one or the other sometimes.

I think Wade's asking if the power is fixed at time of crafting, or you can specify the power anew each run from the menu of powers.

I think being able to pick your power upon crafting is a great idea! Very cool!

Is the part where it is going to be plus damage written in stone yet? A defensive/buffing option would be cool too.

Ah...thanks. Since it will be written on the actual token, it will be fixed at time of crafting.
