Forum thread for the group I just bought tickets for on Sunday, just in case.

Bringing a wizard that would prefer Hardcore, and a druid who is newish to TD but decently equipped.

My group is in this run! We're the bard, dwarf fighter, and barbarian. We're interested in at least hardcore, so that totally works.

I am in as Elf Wizard! Hardcore is fine by me as well

I've been doing TD at GenCon for years now, but this was the druid's first year in person. Neither of us has done VTD.

After watching the video, it seems like for puzzle rooms there's going to be an actual person with a camera on their chest in the zoom call for us to 'interact' with the room in more-or-less the same way as we would in person. I'm less clear on how combat works, given the lack of pucks to slide.

When you get your Zoom link, the coach gives us a code depending on the difficulty we choose which we enter on our character builder. We also enter a die roller code which synchs up with our character. So we click melee or ranged or spell or various saves, we see the d20 spin on the screen until the DM reveals our result. It is pretty cool because all of our bonuses and monster resistances are built in.

Have you built your characters in one of the builder programs? I use tdcharactercreator. There are ones for android or iPhone too. For character creator you can click the VTD button, select the character and practice in a generic dungeon room.

That's super helpful, actually. I've got my build entered on the phone app, the character creator, AND the new one hosted on Trent's site, but I somehow missed the practice option. Thank you.

Well to practice, click the VTD option. It will say select character. Once you do that, you will be set to a screen that gives you all the stats and options. It should say generic dungeon room 0. That’s the practice environment. You can click melee attack, practice taking damage, cast spells with skill checks and so on. Until you enter the code to actually be in room 1 of the dungeon, it is all practice.
