TOPIC: Storing/Transporting bulk tokens

Storing/Transporting bulk tokens 10 years 7 months ago #1

Just curious what other people use to store/transport their bulk tokens? Right now I'm keeping everything in a series of ziplock baggies inside of a backpack, but I'm considering purchasing something like this:

Trademark 600 pc Clear Acrylic Poker Chip Case

Or would something like this work better?

Trademark 300 pc Aluminum Poker Chip Case

What do you all use to store/transport your collections?

Lol mine are all in ziplock baggies too, except for my builds I keep in magic deck boxes :P I've been thinking about using one of those clear plastic cases that I believe are suppose to be for fishing lures. It's what I keep my mini's in and with some adjustment could fit several rows of tokens easily displayed and organized. Out of the choices you posted I like the aluminum case better it looks cooler and way easier to manage.

I've found that True Dungeon tokens are just a wee bit larger than typical poker chips and so don't quite sit well in poker chip trays. They are maybe 1 mm wider, and a tiny bit thicker, so then tend to fall over / slide out of the trays unless there are a good number of them, and they fit 19 to a tray rather than 20.

The clear acrylic holder you listed looks flimsy to me, and these tokens are heavy - so I'd avoid that.

I like this box, it has 10 pull out bins, it's reasonably solid at a fairly cheap price:

Kirk recommended this to me, which looks like you could drop it down the stairs without it spilling anything:

I thought they were the same size as poker chips, just a bit heavier. Hmmm...

Those organizers look promising, although the Husky one makes me nervous because of the weight of tokens in the top shelf would make the top shelf wobbly, I'd think.

Kirk, do you actually own that one already? Your thoughts on it?

The Stanley one looks promising to take into a dungeon...

I want something I can store my bulk tokens in, and something I can cart my one use tokens in as well. I think I'm looking at two separate purchases here.

Hey Josh I do own two of those, I bought them to hold Dwarven forge Tiles. The case is very sturdy it would most likely survive multiple drops. Your problem would be the tokens as they add up quickly in weight, much like the tiles. You would have to store it on the ground or on a sturdy shelf. The tokens do not sit nice and neat in it, but they will stay in their little compartments without mixing. If you are looking for one for storage this may do nicely. I too am on the hunt for something to hold my more frequent used tokens... and not a bandoleer.

Speaking of bandoleers where can one get one of those? ;) I'm thinking about trying one of those magnetic wraps and a bandoleer next year for going into the dungeon.

They are just slightly bigger, both around and width-wise. Comparing a stack of poker chips to a stack of tokens, they even out around the 34 poker chips to 33 tokens spot.

Hi Joshua,

There were a couple of threads about token cases earlier in the summer that you might want to read. I know poker chip cases were talked about.

I dug out two links for you:
TOPIC: Token Case
TOPIC: Best Ways to Hold Tokens

Personally, I ended up making my own small cases this year. But I don't plan on lugging around that many tokens all day so these cases work for the number of tokens I do lug around. Here's link to my blub on them, in case you feel like making something similar.

For in dungeon use I can vouch for Molda's token holders which use a vinyl insert to hold 12-24 tokens, i use the belt clip and wrist mount. For Bulk I use takle/art bin style trays from flambeau. Work really well as the smaller trays fit in a backpack well and larger trays stack either in luggage or on shelves at home.
