TOPIC: DnD 4th Edition!!!!!!!

DnD 4th Edition!!!!!!! 17 years 8 months ago #1

I can't believe no one is talking about this yet.  Of course I just found out myself.  We all know that TD is not DnD but if there are major changes to the system and how certain things are treated with Wizards as a major sponser could this mean some changes for TD as well.  I would love to hear what all you think about the new DnD as well as any concerns about it.

I hadnt even heard about it.  Guess I should have at least stopped by the Wizards booth at Gen Con.

I was blown out of the water by it when I found out, after doing some reading it is looking like Jeff may have to make some changes to the game or stay with 3/3.5 rules as it has been qouted that there are now 25 levels of spells! As well as throwing some of the basic races and classes out the window, the Tiefling is now a basic race.

Unfortunately what I have said thus far is real, those facts were taken from the reveal on Thursday morning.  Along with the Q&A videos of the designers.<br /><br />Although I do find it quite comical that in October they are printing the 3.5 Rules Compendium only to print 4e in May.

Well the 4 part video is much better and I am still kicking myself for not even seeing anything about it at the con.

More evidence that their PR machine is in need of a tune up.  I was looking at the special hotel passkeys and was commenting on the rather plain looking design.  4DVENTURE?  It felt like one of the minor sponsors solely paid for the special passkeys this year.<br /><br />Little did I know it was actually referencing the 4th edition D&D rules.  I guess not playing D&D for so long, I have gone out of touch.

WotC can go #@^& itself. I already made a vow to never buy a piece of 4th ed (or 5th or 6th or 38th) D&D as long as I live. Besides, why go and buy a 4th edition sourcebook when 6 months later 4.5 will come out. If we're really lucky, maybe there will be a 4.75 a few months after that.

I highly doubt that I will be buying anything from 4th.  If I thought my group would settle, I'd never buy anything again and just run the game of my own design.  But it's not finished.  :|  <br /><br />Anyway, I'm not going to be a part of Hasbro's campaign to make more money.

Spoilers:<br /><br />D&d 4.0 now will use the d40 system, making all your old d40's obsolete, requiring you to buy the new d40 dice.  The new d40 system allows for a broader range of levels, without adding more complex rules into the system.  Hasbro will be offering an optional character conversion kit for old d20 system characters to the new d40 system for only $29.99.<br /><br />
