TOPIC: Book Festival

We had the Southern Kentucky Festival of Books today in Bowling Green, Kentucky.  It's a pretty decent size book fest.  I'm always amazed at the authors they get to come.  Kevin Clash who is the puppeteer behind Elmo on Sesame Street was there.  He was pretty good.  I'm looking forward to reading his book, My Life As A Furry Red Monster.  I also met a really amazing woman by the name of Dana Canedy.  She's a senior editor for the NY Times and she wrote a book called Journal For Jordan.  Jordan is her son and his father was killed in Iraq.  His father had deployed to Iraq while Dana was pregnant with Jordan.  He took a blank journal with him to write the things that he knew would be important for his son to hear in case he didn't make it back.  He wound up writing 200 pages worth.  He got to come back to the states and meet his son 6 weeks before he was killed.  She published the journal and added her own insights as well.  <br /><br />Kim

Sad book.<br /><br />I'll be going to the LA Festival of Books at UCLA next weekend - it's HUGE!  Last year I saw Wil Wheaton, Keith Knight, Ray Bradbury, Mike Farrell, and a ton of other writers and speakers.  Too kewl!

I found the website for it.  Wow!  The list of authors is amazing.  I would be so broke if I went to the festival you're going to.<br /><br />Kim

Tickets are free!  You just have to pay for parking.<br /><br />And food.<br /><br />Water and drinks.<br /><br />Books.<br /><br />More books.<br /><br />Something to carry books in.<br /><br />Medical bills for strained back from carrying all those books.<br /><br />and more books.<br />

I think people should boycott books. Just think of the poor trees. Don't they deserve as much consideration as the polar bear or some endangered 4 toed tree sloth down in some fetid jungle? I'm sure you wouldn't buy books if they skinned dogs and used it to print words on. Think of the trees. The humanity.

I've always wanted a book with a cat fur cover. 

One that purrs when you read it? I think I could get behind that.
