TOPIC: Graphical Token Program for David's Token Engine?

Graphical Token Program for David's Token Engine? 13 years 6 months ago #1

I am thinking of making a graphical interface for David's cool Token Engine here:

Character Program

It would be a big feature of the new site. Basically, we would take his engine and give it a cool graphical interface so that players could drag and drop tokens into slots. Then, they could print their character out and bring that with them to Gen Con. It would provide a listing of the tokens that the player must show the Coach to get the stated stats.

Also, a player can create "groups" and then invite people to join their group. The program would then create a Party Card based on this party...and again...with the tokens needed being printed out individually for the Coach to check.

It should be fun to trick out your character build for all to see within your profile, and to link to others to form a cool group. It would also have the added benefit of printing out a character card (and Party Card) to save the Coaches some headaches.

What do you think?

Thanks!

Sounds like a fantastic idea! That should really help the coaches out.

Sounds like a great idea! Would it allow me to develop the entire party and print out the party card for them? Nobody else in my group is on the forums, I do all the tokens for the group. If I could develop the entire party card, that would be great for us and the coaches!

I'm with Mike. I do the tokens for my group and I like the ability to build the entire party.

Also, my offer still stands if you need some equipment to help allow this to happen at gencon, just PM me and I'll let you know how much equipment I currently have.

Your description sounds like the printed output would be graphical. That's all nice and well, but as a coach, what I'd find more valuable would be the bonuses, especially if it was formatted to look like the party card.
Have you looked it up in the TDb ?

For ease of printing I assumed the print out version would be different then the graphical version.

This would be fantastic! This last year I printed out the excel character sheet as well as the party card sheet. Before each run my stats were totaled up differently while using the same stat items. Reducing ambiguity during the setup would be great.

When it prints, what about a format at the top for each player that looks like a party card slot. Below that is a graphic/title of each token the player must have with them: grouped by location/type would be nice (a neck box, an armor box, 3 ring boxes, charm boxes, etc)

In addition, if linking together the groups, one may then print an entire party card in party card format.
I can't help being a gorgeous fiend. It's just the card I drew.

Yeah...the idea is to allow people to have some fun displaying their character(s) on their Forum account, AND to be an aid for the Coaches. So players will be able to print out their character individually in the form of a Party Card with a single character filled out, or several characters can be placed together and all printed out on one Party Card. The program would also print out a list of all tokens needed to get the stats entered.

Coaches would then just have to check the token list with the player's tokens to verify everything. It should help things go smoother.

Still, many players would utilize this program, but it will help some.

If it was available at gencon more folks would use it for sure. Trying to get people there early enough to get it set up ahead of time is probably asking too much but talking about it and having it there would speed a lot of groups up for sure. I still think the kios idea has merit but getting and keeping the printer going would require some effort.
