TOPIC: What is this place?

What is this place? 19 years 8 months ago #1

Hi,I am curious of what you guys mean by "True Heroes".I am a spokesperson for the True Heroes community located here trueheroes.board.dk3.com/2/index.php .Yes,our board is using a free service but we have been acclaimed by such places like www.maddox.xmission.com .True Heroes is a growing internet comedy community famous for it's "Ranboob" section which is a barrage of hilarious topics and posts. We,sadly, had a conflict with Brawl Hall.A premier internet flaming board. They posted disgusting photos and posted wildley inappropiate topics. But even though our forum is centred to an adult community, they went overboard and eventually had us shut down.I am just curious about what you mean by "True Heroes" so when people are searching for either one of us,there will be no confusion of the sort.

Thank you,

True Heroes is a interactive game environment where like 5-7(I think, don't quote me, I know nothing and am told even less) people go through this as marvel comic book characters(heroes not the villians, Cyclops, Rogue, etc). They have to solve the challenges of the rooms to progress through the storyline to save Wolverine, I think from Tom's spiffy flash movie( www.truedungeon.com/trueheroes/ ). I believe that it is sponsored by Upper Deck Entertainment, and based upon a Marvel Cardgame they produce.
It is debuting at Gen Con Indy this August.
True Dungeon is styled after D&D; which premiered last year in august at the Gen Con Indy of 2003.
This board helps the gamers who have preregistered find the other players in time slots. To discuss current developments, ponderings, assistance. I have seen posts such as, I will be going through this for the first time, any suggestions what character I should play. Or my group holds this number of tickets for this time slot, we would like to play these characters, would the other for this time slot please let us know what you are interested in characterwise. That's why there are those Thursday, Friday and Saturday discussion threads. Because its players trying to find others those days when it runs.

Like I said, I'm just a poster here. Counting away the months till it comes to Gen Con SoCal. Hope this gave you some information. This is just what I've gathered from the site.

Dirtdazzy has it pretty much right. True Heroes is a walkthrough comic book adventure created by True Adventures in conjunction with Upper Deck Entertainment. The event will premeire at GenCon Indianapolis this year.

We have no intention of causing trouble for your site, so you don't need to worry about us.

There are 5 players in each group, playing Marvel X-Men characters. The characters are Colossus, Cyclops, Nightcrawler, Rogue and Storm.

I don't know that many are going to wander on to your site looking for us; we include the www.truedungeon.com link with about everything we send out.

Good luck with your project! Sorry for any misunderstanding.

Colossus, Cyclops, Rogue, Storm and Nightcrawler eh? Did Crawler replace Gambit then?

Thanks.

Yup.

Not a rumor, not a dream, not a hoax, not an imaginary tale.

Nightcrawler is in the line up, and Gambit is out.

You're welcome Nightcrawler fans. And sorry Gambit fans.

Just a coment. I won't see this game until December when you come to the O.C. but wouldn't it help to have several more characters to use?

Just in case a bunch of guys show up for one event. I'm sure none of them are going to want to be Rogue or Storm. The same I'm sure if a bunch of ladies show up. They may not want to be a bunch of guys.

Just a thought. 8)

Nothing wrong with RPing a woman or man character if your the opposite gender in Real Life, their not making you dress up as one of them. I don't think more than 5 or possibly 6 heroes to play will be needed. I dislike larger groups myself, personally.

We wanted to keep the game specifically designed for the heroes that would be going through it, this meant that we couldn't really offer options of characters (having 5 players, but 9 characters to choose from wouldn't really have worked). So we picked characters we thought comprised a good, well-rounded team with abilities that would fit into the event.

Most gamers I know, both male and female, have played characters of the opposite sex at some point. I don't think that's much of a problem when compared to having a team of all male characters and then coming off like we don't want women around. :)

And Pepsiking's got a point, we aren't going to make anyone dress up or get into character any more than they are comfortable with. As always, players can wear costumes if they wish and speak like their characters if they wish, but none of this is required for our events.

I'm typing this while taking a break from working on sets for True Heroes and they are coming out great! Can't wait for GenCon!

LOL

I wasn't expecting anyone to be forced to dress up as a particular character. Although that would sure add some to the entertainment level. ;)

I also think 5 is a good amount of people, and I was talking about the character choices.

I don't care which character I end up playing, but while some people don't mind playing characters of the oppositie sex, I'll bet there are a lot who won't like that.

Whatever guy gets to play Rogue or Storm will be teased unmercifully. I know how my friends were when we'd play. Part of the fun is giving everyone a bad time while you play.

But I'd like to hear if you get any comments that you get about it at Indy, because I think you'll have more than you think.

But I could be wrong.

Just as a further comment, one of the characters in the TD line-up is female (the cleric). I will admit it is not as obvious as Rogue or Storm, but no one seemed to mind either at Indy or SoCal. There was some good natured ribbing, but most took it in stride. Really, if the player did not make a big deal out of it, the DM didn't either (except for Jeff B.). I have to admit most did not even register the fact their character was female. For that matter, we had many female gamers playing male parts.

I guess I have a difficult time imagining most people being really bent out of shape. :? Aside from the fact I have always thought Rogue and Storm were cool (even though my fav is NightCrawler), I can easily imagine myself as a male version of the same, so playing a female role is rally no big deal.

I am sure there is more than one D&D die-hard out there who has experienced a gender shift or two. ;)

Well, if you're talking about Halle Berry as Storm then I'd disagree with Storm being cool. ;)

As for the cleric being a girl in TD you probably wouldn't even notice that.

And Shakespheare, there's lots of things that were done a long time ago that we don't do any more.

But hey, if it works it works. 8)
