TOPIC: Artifact set

Artifact set 11 years 7 months ago #1

Had a discussion a couple days ago that basically started with "If you could go back in time and acquire all of the arcane recipes an convinced TPTB to allow you to make a 'set' of artifacts with a set bonus and everything what would it be?"

I thought it was a really interesting thought experiment, after about seven hours here's what I came up with!

Armor of Pride (torso)-
+6 Ac, Continuous bless, Fear Immunity, Monsters must attack this character if able. Once per room you may use 1 special ability or spell without it being marked. (if multiple characters 'must be attacked then the monster may choose which of those characters it attacks)

Side effect: May not use Scrolls

Horn of Greed (neck)-
+5 treasure pulls at end of adventure, when another party member uses a consumable this player may reveal this token, if you do then instead of the token being destroyed it is given to you (if multiple such effects would apply then it is given to one of the players who could receive it random).

Side effect: Banned from lending or giving away tokens to other players. If given the option to receive a clue or a treasure, you MUST take the treasure. -2 Charisma

Cloak of Lust (Back)-
Immune to all forms of charm or unwilling enchantment, Increase Str, Dex, Con, Int, Wis, and CHA by +1 each for every member of the party that is of the opposite gender. Humanoids of the opposite gender deal half damage on successful attacks against you.

Side effect: May not attack humanoids of the opposite gender.

Blade of Wrath (one handed weapon, +2 longsword):
damage wheel 3/4/5/6/7/8/9/10, If 10 is the number that would be selected on a hit then the attack hits regardless of the roll. If a 20 is rolled and the 10 is not showing then the value becomes modified to a 10 for that attack. If a 20 is rolles and a 10 is showing this character may choose to deal himself any amount of damage, add twice that amount in damage to this attack.

Side effect: If another player does the killing blow to a monster you will make a single melee attack against that character if able.

Charm of Sloth (Charm):
During combat you may choose to rest during your turn, every turn you rest heal yourself of 1 hp and an additional hp for every consecutive turn before the current turn that you have been resting (if you rest for 5 turns you will heal 1, then 2, then 3, then 4, then 5). You may choose to cast the spell slow (as a scroll) at will, when doing so you also suffer the effects of the spell.

Side effect: You may not act during the first two rounds of combat (you cannot even rest or take free actions). -1 Cha, no other charms may be equipped while this charm is equipped.

Ring of Envy (ring): Whenever another player receives a buff you receive the same buff. Whenever another player is healed for any amount you heal for the same amount. At the end of the adventure if another player would be awarded more treasure tokens than you, you are awarded the difference.

Side effect: you suffer a -1 morale bonus to attacks for every other member of your party who is wearing an Ultra-rare, Relic, Artifact, or Legendary that you are not also wearing. -1 Cha. This item takes up 2 ring slots

Shield of Gluttony (offhand): +3AC +3 Con, When hit with a projectile (including projectile spells) heal yourself an amount equal to the damage that would have been dealt, that damage is prevented. After 'absorbing' an attack in this manner that ability ceases to function until you dowse your shield in a rare potion.

Side effect: At the start of the adventure you must turn in 5 rare potions (ultra rares are still 'rare' but combo items, relics uncommons, commons, etc. are not)

Seven Deadly Sins set bonus: If all seven sins are equipped then this get +1 level and double all explicit numerical bonuses received from the items that are a part of the set (for instance the +6 to Ac from the armor will become +12, but the bonus from being blessed will remain the same, as it is the bless effect that provides the stat bonus not the item itself)

The seven sins are what I would make, if you could acquire a bunch of arcane recipes what would your artifact set be?

Artifact set bonus: You win! Pass go and collect $200.

If you have that many artifacts, you should already have enough bonuses that for all intents and purposes you're already won! Congrats! :woohoo:
