TOPIC: Character Customization (new token type?)

Character Customization (new token type?) 11 years 6 months ago #1

Howabout a new slot to help with character customization...

"Feat" or "Training" tokens!

Like:

Elven Blade Training (any): allows use of one handed swords

Divine Schooling (Paladin only): Allows use of Divine Scrolls

Holy Protector (Paladin only): For one round (per dungeon) any/all monsters who can, must attack the Paladin.

Jumpy(any): +1 on initiative rolls

Scavenger (Ranger only): removes "one use" from uncommon ammmo

Way of the Crane (Monk only): +2 AC

Shield Warrior (Fighter only): Allows use of Pally's defend action

Combat Cutpurse (Rogue only): Allows rogue to draw a treasure coin instead of doing damage on a crit.

Heavy Drinker (any): May sing along with the Bard, adding +1 to Bardsong ability...

Improv Master (Bard only): May cast a single spell off a party member's card (without expending it)

A few notes:
*Some of these are ideas I've seen floating around...
*I have not balanced these... some would be rare and some UR... (some perhaps even relic...)
*Stat based changes would bea easiest to implement, but are way less fun.
*The goal would be to have at least TWO per class (eventually) and only one slot... so CHOICE and Customization would be key...

Honestly they all sound like they would make great charms or figurines of power. That said my charms are fairly full so if additional slots were introduced I would use them.

+1 to Feat tokens, this has come up a few times and I love the idea.

I do too. I know that they add a new type every few years, and Feats would be great.

Really cool idea. I'll have to think of one for my Druid brethren.

Druids kind of got one already this year, in the form of that UR Bowl

Been giving the idea of feats a little more thought, what would people think if they were awarded for quest completion in the story scape rather then included in the standard set similar to this years earcuffs?

I'd be down for that at say 250gp per slide (for the masters time of course ;) )

It would give one bag newbies something "official" to do with their gold.

I like this idea! And it has the potential to be class specific too. There could be a list of class-specific boons a storyscape NPC gives out to people who pay him, pass his test, answer his riddle, etc. And then the reward could be stamped on people's hands like the Darkstain Immunity. I know a token reward is better than a hand-stamp but I doubt printing 10-12 different tokens for a storyscape award is feasible.

I doubt it would be much harder then printing the powdered unicorn horn and such used in truecraft.

Jeff if your reading this Truefeats...

Not in favor of the stamps myself. One-day rewards penalize those who run early, and result in a huge crush of people trying to squeeze in the quests early in the day. And they discourage proper bathroom hygiene - the DMs should be issued a quart of Purell for handling sliders and tokens touched by these players.
