TOPIC: Distribution of wealth

Here's an idea I had fun with last year, though I have no idea as to the specific results for reasons that will soon come clear.  Last year, out of boredom, I created bags of mundane treasure tokens (such as a bag with 10 longswords, or a bag of 10 daggers, or a bag of 10 suits of leather armor) and hid them in various parts of the dungeon and the tavern.  I also left the occasional single item somewhere for people to find.  I can only imagine someone going through the dungeon, finding a bag full of tokens and getting all excited about it, but they would then open it up and find 10 plain long swords!  I plan on doing it again this year and would encourage people to do the same!  I will also be creating some basic warrior kits to hand out to people in the tavern out of the kindness of my heart.<br /><br /><br />Take care and have a great day....<br /><br /><br /><br />ciao,<br />john.

<br /><br />Perhaps it's just the way I'm reading it, but it sounds like you are trying to play a trick on other players.  The way you wrote your text, it sounds like your intention is to get someone all excited and then be happy when that person is disappointed with what they find.  If that is your intention, it seems most cruel.<br /><br />If, however, you are truly trying to add happiness and fun to an already wonderful game, then I praise your thoughts.  <br /><br />I would, however, strongly suggest that you ask Jeff personally before tampering with his dungeon.<br /><br /><br />JKW<br />

what a great idea. i'll wrap up my "great big ole box" of tokens and hide it in the tavern. yeah. then we can see how long it takes for someone to find it. YEAH. then watch their reaction go from :O to  as they realize its all the common fodder i really don't have any use for.

<br />Sometimes, even I'm amazed at my talents for lyrical prose.

My intentions are not cruel or mean or anything other than the desire to play a harmless prank on someone.  I remember my first ever TD run and I found a token for 1 gp.  I was so happy when I found it (in the pile of junk by the gate at the entrance to the dungeon) and more than a bit disappointed when I turned it over and saw it was for 1 gp.  In retrospect, though, I laughed about it because I had no reason to expect a red token to simply be lying around.  Besides, there are a lot of mundane tokens throughout the dungeon.  It isn't like I'm deliberatly tricking someone into thinking that they found a bunch of red or greens or even purple tokens and then switching them out.  Any emotion generated by the finding of any tokens in the dungeon is generated by those who find the token(s), not by any pre-existing notion that only really good tokens can be found within the dungeon.<br /><br />I think, though, that I will rethink leaving bags of tokens in the dungeon.  However, nothing short of a direct threat of being banned will stop me from dropping a token or two within the dungeon itself.<br /><br /><br />Take care and have a great day....<br /><br /><br /><br />ciao,<br />john.

Like the gang says, clear it with Jeff so he knows where they are. <br />Reason being after the con we tend to get a lot of questions. Such as were treasure was, how things were solved. Typically alot will chirp up how they solved it or where treasure was found.<br />And people tend to get really annoyed when there appear to be deviations from what we explain in the Riddle Reveal. They think if others found something in the a location others should have too.<br />With foreknowledge we can better field that when it comes. We also usually try to thank those who help out and contribute to the event. <br />So telling little things like that ahead of time lets us have an opportunity later to thank people for helping add to our players experience.<br />And explain apparent deviations from the riddle reveal.<br /><br /><br />By the by I want alot of Common Item: Breadcrumb tokens please, so I can leave a trail on my adventure so I can find my way back to the tavern.<br />Breadcrumbs? <br />Thanks, Mock26 for clarifying things.  As I said, it was probably just the way you worded the original sentance.  That and I've been the picked-on underdog too much of my life and tend to take things personally, but I realized that when I wrote the question/response to you and figured you meant no ill, or you wouldn't be thinking of giving out fighter packs.<br /><br />I agree that finding more treasure would be fun for everyone.  I've never played and anything I find, short of a Curse to myself or an insta-death item, will be appreciated.<br /><br />Mind droping some healing potions?  <br /><br />Speaking of giving out basic eq packs.  I don't want to take away from TD's income, but after reading severl other posts, I too, was thinking about bagging up some of my common tokens and allowing free token draws or something like that.  Would TD have a problem with people handing out free tokens?  If I ever get a stash of Rares and Very Rares, I think a paid token draw like someone else suggested would be neat.<br /><br />Now wait a minute.  A post from Dirtdazzy with a picture of Gary.  *rubs eyes*  <br /><br />JKW<br />
