TOPIC: Token Racks (TD Store)

Last year in the stores, the shopkeepers had these cool racks for sorting and storing tokens.  I would really appreciate it if the person who made those would the dimensions/spacing of the dowels that were used to hold the tokens in place.<br /><br />I was thinking about making something similar to keep tokens organized and wanted to save myself the hassle of producing prototypes to see what spacing worked and instead just go with the already proven model.<br /><br />Thanks!

I'm actually getting a rack made for this year...it will have 5 rows of 10 stacks and hold 20 per stack...or 1000 token capacity.<br /><br />If you decide to go with something like this - you have to remember you should not have much room for fingers and tokens - so getting to the last 3 in a stack could be difficult...I am using a dowel peg with earthquake stic-tac to reach in and grab the tokens.<br /><br />PM me and I'll get you the final dimensions...

<br /><br />That's the puzzle I was trying to solve - the token to dowel to finger space ratio.  I feel a little better knowing that the official racks had the same issue. 

The official racks did NOT have this issue as they were only 2.5 rows. (three rows but the center was in the middle of the two outside rows) <br /><br />You could reach pretty much reach any stack - the middle row was a tad tricky...but there was some finger room as the dowels were staggered if memory serves...<br />

Staggered - now that's a good idea...  I sketched mine to use 4 dowels per token, but if you only used 3 (two on the top and one on the bottom) and alternated the 2-by and 1-by rows, it would give you some needed finger space!<br /><br />>runs off to secret lab<

How many people actually plan on spending a good chunk of their time trading? I'm concerned as this will be the first time a lot of people want to do it, and I don't want this to be a game of cutthroat.

Of course it'll be a game of cutthroat. Why would you believe it to be anything otherwise?  There seems to be a growing contingent of people who go to gencon for TD and nothing else. Those individuals have nothing to do BUT sit in the tavern and trade. I imagine there will be at least a few people active at any one time.

I think more of a Trader's union. The larger traders will be able to give better deals, and if we assemble, the union could abviously crush the competition of those not in it. Thus encouraging more people to join and play by the rules.<br /><br />That's more of a cutthroat game that ostrisizes the independant trader. Its also what is most likely to happen.

I don't get it...penalizes the indie trader for what? Not being willing to pay as much as those willing to pay more?

I'm thinking of this more as a selling point for players...I mean who wants to shop all 5-10 tables for the same deal...if people are all going to have the same stuff (big assumption) I would be tempted to shop for the person who values it less...likewise - if Guide says (1pt) healing is 25 - yet we all agree 40 is our low price...then we don't have to worry about being cleaned out or called a hack for being higher than Guide.
