So anyone want to venture a guess what a realistic trade value would be for an entire set of 2006 Spider tokens?

According to Guide...the value of all 108 tokens is $259.12 (if I did the math right) - which seems low to me considering that if you spent $250 to get 30 bags...you would have to trade GREENS or double REDS to get 6+ missing REDS for the set...but you do get all those multi-commons...

I can tell ya...my luck anyway - it took over $500 burn to get a full set via the totally random draw.

I wonder if such a set would ever sell well on eBay or trade well on this forum???

Not thinking of this to turn a buck...just thinking that as collecting the tokens grows - and as it stands today we already have people who have built full sets and that could be something that is in demand in the future...

Does anyone know of a full set ever trading hands in the past???

Sorry - just had to post something that wasn't GenCon bashing, TD structure related or ticket related...

Here, here!
All that stuff is giving me such a headache. Now in all fairness it may just be the sinus congestion from my cold/flu/whatever, but it sure doesn't help. ehehhehe

Question, was that using the latest version of the guide?
I thought about tallying it myself to see if you had used it. But aforementioned headache and lateness of hour make me inclined to lean toward lazy side and just ask. :P

You know bro, I'd have to agree with you on the low ball side value. According to the guide my collection is only worth 18 cents!
*scoff* As if!
They're priceless I tell you, Priceless!
But then again I always was one to attach sentimental value.

Gary I think that such a set will trade well in 2-3 years when newer players want older sets, maybe less. What would likely trade well now would be a 2005a set, and it's only one year later.

Speaking of which - is it kosher to put tokens up in the GenCon auction? I was thinking about making prepackaged starter sets for the different classes, but wasn't sure if such a thing was cool with the powers that be.

I think that some people would like a set where they'll know what they're getting. I'd only put up a couple of each at most, so I wouldn't be competing with the TD store.

Exposure in the auction may also introduce some people to treasure tokens which is also a good thing.

I would think the verbage we have heard from Dave/Jeff would hold - that "the tokens are yours to do with what you please." But I am not an authority about that...if the auction is open to any CCG lots - I would think that token lots would be allowed.

Well of course anything Smak is looking for is going to be HOT...but I mean will some players ever be looking for a complete set from a trade or eBay over buying tokens in bags??? Part of the TD growing phenom - would be for a secondary market to explode into full bloom...not that it hasn't already (several eBay trades have been witnessed already)...but the pinnacle could be for sets to be selling for $3-400 soon after the new edition is released...

This kinda brings up the whole idea of base set and expansion sets...which I've championed before.

I figured the auction would take them. I was more concerned with offending the TD management. (They might cut me off from my precio.....>ahem<...I mean the tokens...) :)

Tokens sold in last years SoCal auction, so it should be fine.

They actually did pretty well. They were the mugs with tokens in the bottom, and three of them sold for about $10 each.

Of course, putting anything like this in the auction is a gamble, because it does have a pretty narrow market. So, put a minimum on it, or they may sell for pennies on the dollar if the right bidders aren't present.

You bought the tokens -- so you can do whatever you want with them.

You can sell them, trade them, auction them or eat them. Oh...and they make great kindling.
