Bwah ha ha! Another soul captured by our eeeevil pl...

Uhh

Welcome friend! Come on in and have a seat. Don't mind the spiders scuttling around in the corners. They mean nothing... nothing at all. Being a former MMORPG'r myself, I certainly understand the rush you're referring to. Believe me, it only gets better from there! Seeing and hearing the actual thing is straight-up jaw-dropping for those of us bitten by the bug, and it sounds like you're one of us. That, and this year it's getting even cooler.

Now then, how's this for a deal. I happen to have a ticket for Thursday at 4:01 PM sitting here on my desk. I also happen to be working in the dungeon at that time, meaning I can't use this ticket. Now, we can't sell stuff openly on the boards without getting people in trouble with Gen Con... but check your Private Messages :-)

ZNICK,

Here's my bent on this subject - and I'll try to keep it simple.

Tickets

You do not want to get Gen Con mad at you - buying ANYTHING (tickets, tokens, or other not directly from GenCon staff) with money while you are there will get you in trouble - buy at your own risk.

That said - There are people on the forums who say they have extra tickets from overbuying. Try to get your tickets through the TD forum or the GenCon forum (discretely) before the con. OR you can buy generic tickets at the Con where they are being officially sold and hope that you can get in TD. The likelihood of that happening? - it CAN happen. People change their mind, come late and thus miss their turn, or trash the extra tickets. Having been the person taking tickets last year, it happened often.

Tokens:

1. You don't have to have tokens. The dungeon can be won through quick wit and smarts.
2. All players will get one bag of tokens and will get a chance to trade before they go into the dungeon.
3. You could go the research route, as others have suggested, to get some knowledge basics. So you are not taken advantage of - so you know What to use When.

ZNICK - If you are persistant, there is a good chance that you will get in. It means you may have to hang around a long time, though. The best place is the tavern. Dispite the appearance of being the token addict, Gary, Douglas and the others are good people and will be in the tavern lending good advise to anyone who will ask.

Good luck. And you WILL have fun.

Why thank ye!

Don't forget J Lionheart has a cool website for TD FANS!!! Check that out and pay particular attention to the CHARacter sheets - they can show you the MAX a CHAR can be, as far as AC and other equipment goes...

1. DD, awesome little tune.
2. SuzyFox, great post.
3. Znick, if you are unable to find some tix through the forums, it's worth hanging around on the standby list to get in. One tx can be pretty quick, two (if your wife is playing) can be a little longer wait, but certainly happens.
4. Never listen to Gary. Well listen for he is wise, but take a bite from a big salt-lick. See, Gary is the president of Tokens Anonymous and is therefore a bit ... skewed on his thinking of tokens.
5. Always trust anyone with the term "halfling" in their screen name.

6. Finally, Z, no one has really said what might be a good "starter" level of tokens... the buy 6 bags, get 1 free certainly isn't bad place to start, enough to really get the fingers twitching. Depending on your level of desire, the buy 10, get 2 is a better deal and will keep you happily sorting tokens and playing with the traders for hours. Buying the 25, get 5 free... right outta the gate... well then you get a free admission to the TokAnon meetings Gary runs each morning at the hotel restaurant over a bowl of Raisin Bran.
=D
Cheers, Stuart O. + Thats the short haired, short statured, no beard, Indy Stu ...+ "Nemo saltat sobrius"
