TOPIC: You guys have done it.

Ok.. THIS MORNING I started reading about TD and tokens. I'm officially hooked... and I don't own a token. (but the VISA is out!)<br /><br />I've been playing online multi-player RPG's for 8-9 years, and run a large organization of online gamers. What type of character do I "always" play?  A merchant/trader.  While everyone else is out slaying dragons, pvp'ing, and building houses, I'm always at the bank or auction house getting wealthy beyond my wildest dreams, trading, swapping, buying, selling, negotiating... <br /><br /> Now I find this?   <br /><br />My poor wife's going to have to get a 2nd job.<br /><br />Z

That's how it happened to me when I started last year <br /><br />I saw an announcement one morning about an RPG game being run by my idol of the role-playing world, and wanted in. Turns out it was running at Gencon Indy, so I bought plane tickets and made hotel reservations by early afternoon. I went over to the Gencon forums to browse, and kept seeing people mentioning this hot ticket called True Dungeon. I hunted up the website and started reading. That evening I sent in an email asking to volunteer, and was accepted as a full time DM. By the next day I believe it was, I had ordered my first 60 tokens. Now, a year later, I've got around 1500 tokens, I've opened a fan website, I've released a set of t-shirts and tote bags about it, and I've got myself a serious obsession.<br /><br />::beings playing Guns N' Roses::<br />"Welcome to the Dungeon! I'm working on it!  This is our second annual "Real Life Reunion" at Gen Con. (I couldn't make it last year) We don't have a whole lot coming this year, but word will spread, and each year seems to get bigger than the one before.  <br /><br />Z

True Tavern, sounds like a good place to hold said "real life reunion' at. <br />

I think that's just the sort of event which True tavern was hoping to draw. Last year it didn't get as many people as originally hoped (partly because of the high cost of beverages and partly because people weren't sure about the "2 hour clear-out" thing. But this year, with the lower priced drinks, longer bar hours, and more activities inside, I think we'll see a lot more people dropping by to hang out and enjoy the atmosphere with friends!

I think the fact that you are rewarding long-time (high XP) players with free entry is another nice touch.  I'm going to be more likely to kick back and russle up pick up games there since I can wander in without a fist full of Generics.<br /><br />(Last year, I ended up spending my "downtime" in the auction, much to the horror of my wallet...
