For years the general consensus may have been that there were originally 4 of these wooden purple gifts made but after some recent fact finding it appears there may have been 5 (at least)*.

The Ro3W was a super cool "thank you" from Jeff to his original team of Directors. Jenn, Lance and Warren were the first three Directors and each received this token in 2005. There was also a Ro3W that (as strange fate would have it) turned up in a bag of tokens somehow and was sold at a Gencon Indy convention (if I had to guess it was sometime between 2006-2008). There was also a Ro3W given as part of the reward for raising the most funds for the Patch Memorial in 2009.

So where are they now? The 5 Ro3W that are known to exist or existed:

The ring of Jenn - passed to Gary Dec 2008 - passed to Trent June 2017.
The ring of Lance - still in his possession.
The ring of Warren - still in his possession.
The ring of fate (appeared in a token bag) - purchased by Tim - sold to SMAK ?
The Patch Memorial Ring - presented to Dennis - all 3 wishes used and token destroyed August 2009.

*waiting on validation by Jeff.

Ro3W legends were always a fancy of mine and doubly so when one came into my possession. Now it gives me great pleasure to put one back out there for Trent and others to enjoy!!! I hope it goes on display as a great memory of TD past and the many great gestures between Jeff and gamers alike. Long live TD.

Wow, I'm surprised you passed your Ro3W on, Bro, I thought that was one token you'd have forever. Congrats, Trent! That's one wooden token I don't expect to ever have in my collection (although never say never).

The Ro3W were given out in 2004 - along with the Ring of Regeneration they were the first wooden Ultra-Rare tokens.

The "Patch Memorial Ring" I believe was originally Jeff's own Ring. I think it wasn't destroyed. The final wish I think was something along the lines that Jeff keep the ring forever.

Hey Congrats Trent!!

As for the Ring Smak had, I spoke to him briefly while we were waiting to enter the dungeon on a run at TDC. I recall asking him about it and I don't believe he has it anymore.....

This amazing post by Gary made me remember a post from last year that I posted when I was originally looking for the Ring of Three Wishes.

www.truedungeon.com/forum?view=topic&catid=61&id=243872

In reference to someone saying that I'd never find the ring, I said:

Trent wrote: I'll definitely never find it if I never look.

:)

As I said, I know "the ring is close to impossible to find," but I shall still try. This particular token will give me something to continue to look for between now and my last breath. At one time the Earth was flat and the moon was too far for a man to touch, so anything's possible if you never give up!

I never gave up and I found the ring. Thanks again Gary!

According to Jenn who got one...the rings were given in 2005 the year of the mage shop and blacksmith.

She is double checking notes to be 100% sure. 2005 makes sense to me because the build for that year was huge.

As for Jeff having a 5th ring that makes sense and was this was the Patch Memorial ring...I saw Jeff Mark off the wishes used and could not remember if he snapped the token or just put it in his pocket. Were you in the room Mike when Dennis used the ring?

As for SMAK not having one...YIKES now that would be a total shocker.

The ring is in a better home now because a TD token fan has it and will showcase it like it should be shown.

Congrats Trent!

And thanks Gary for making wishes come true. (You always were some kind of Magic)

My own memory of the Patch Memorial Ring of 3 Wishes matches what Mike Steele said - that the ring was not destroyed. Dennis made 2 wishes that I can recall. One wish was that the Martin family found some sort of peace in their hearts after the loss of Schuyler. And the other was a wish that Jeff keep the ring as a reminder.

By the way, for those who don't know: Widseth had the winning bid on the Schuyler Patch Memorial run, but he himself didn't go on the run. Instead, he - with the assistance of some forumites - found GenCon attendees who had served in the military and gave them a free run.

I verified it with TokenDB, it was printed in 2004. 2005 was when the first UR set was introduced, as well as Bucknard's Mug. Very generous of you to pass the Ring on Bro - if you run across a second send it my way. ;)

I wasn't in the room when it happened, but I heard what happened from someone I think was in the room, in pretty good detail. It was an incredibly generous gesture from Dennis.

So let's fact update. TDb is mistaken. Jenn confirmed 2005. Not sure where TDb got the date but the Ro3W has a 2004 star back.

I remember Dennis made some great wishes and the ones mentioned are spot on I think.

What I could not recall due to conversations at the time in the room was what happened to the token. I was in the back 1/2 of the room and we were chatting about it getting snapped in half.

Dennis asking Jeff to keep it sounds right. And let's go with that. I think it was marked on too but that's not a big deal.
