D&D teaches all the important lessons in life - the low blow, the cheap shot, the back stab, the double cross. - Jerry Marsischky

Even Hardcore level is expensive when you are outfitting a group of ten. :)

I've never tried crack, but if it's anything like tokens, it's probably best if I don't.

I avoided the token addiction for many years, playing with the modest reds that I acquired adventuring. I was perfectly content...until the year we were going to be under water. I pre-bought a few key tokens to ensure I would survive that adventure. From there, it was a gradual build-up to a full-on addiction.

Are tokens like crack? Well, I never tried to stick them up my nose. I can keep them after I use them and even sell them later. And the police don't stop me and throw me in jail for carrying them around (yet).

So all in all, probably better than crack.

I like Eric, wasn’t bitten by the addiction the first few years. In fact, the first few years I gave away my tokens including the treasure I pulled if someone was nearby or just tossed them in the trash. About 4 years in, I decided I would play this game every year so I started saving and it has just gone crazy from there.

Is crack like tokens are to me? Except I still have my teeth?

I spent I think, 100 my first year on 10 packs (they were $10 each back then).

For the next few years I became the token organizer for our group, but the pool didn't change much (+10-20 treasure pulls, +6-8 starting 10 packs).

For years my most treasured tokens were my Wand of Life Stealing.

I started buying healing at $1 a point and Scroll Burning Hands (Common) from the one vendor who sells tokens on the show floor (huge rip off... but I didn't know better).

After 4-5 years I began to wonder how people made the jump to URs - this may have been inspired by the absolute drubbing our group took at the hands of Smoak TPKing us on it's 3rd round (although I think at most 2 players were alive after 2). That seed laid dormant for a year or two.

Then I fell hard into collecting - which has been great - it makes TD into a year round hobby for me.

But, the bug definitely doesn't get everyone - I have one player in my group who is roughly in it as much as I, but the rest are just happy to be there.

I'd tell you how much I have spent on tokens, but I'm worried that I might scare you off. (And I'm not even a big spender compared to others around here.)

Haha, same here. Played a few years at GenCon and just gave the tokens to anyone standing outside who was waiting for their time slot. One year I hung on to them, but we didn't go back to GenCon and switched to Origins instead. I was dismayed as I thought I wouldn't get a chance to play again, but luckily TD came to Origins the very next year! Decided last year that I would start saving whatever we were lucky enough to draw, but this year I've fallen in to collecting...

Sometimes I feel kind of silly getting so excited about opening up random packs, sorting tokens, and updating my character builds... But hey, it's fun!

The only ones who are "silly" are the people who are NOT excited by this!!!

Keep in mind that Trent is the current face of Team Token. So he might be just a tad bit biased. ;)
