One thing that could be considered is making the mat itself a bit wider to allow those tokens to float outside the person, making that association yet still letting the art shine.

Another thing I liked about Reap's version was moving charms, beads, and ioun stones to the bottom, which keeps things that don't have as strong a relationship to the body away from it and letting your weapons/torso still shine up top.

As others mentioned, I had concern about using red for the five slots that are encouraged. Red tends to be a 'mandatory' or 'danger' signal, green is more 'this is encouraged', which seems the desire (especially when you have some casters that are probably less focused on weaponry and offhand).

A very slapdash version of what I'm envisioning:

That looks pretty good. :)

Thanks for the great feedback. Take a look at this design. It is a bit wider which will mean higher cost...but it should be worth it.

Thanks!

PS. There will be 10 different designs where the person in the middle will be swapped out similar to our Underling and Hirelings Safehold tokens. Let's just get the sockets set before worrying about the middle art.

Jeff, that looks awesome! My main suggestion would be to move the Beads and Charms to the sides a bit so there is separation between them. Also, I did kind of like the Ears next to each other (it's easier to see there are two ear slots that way), and the eyes and neck on the other side, but I like it this way almost as much. :)

Any thoughts on having a set space for extra slots (like extra charm tokens you may qualify for) or focus on treasure enhancers?

I like it!

I agree with Mike that it'll be easier to notice that there are two ear slots if they are beside each other.

Not sure if it's of interest, but you could also add a QR code for tokendb (or True Dungeon generally) to make it easier for players to look things up. There are a bunch of free generators available online, including some that would let you integrate the True Dungeon logo if you wished.

Personally I think it's much better to only print circles for the standard allotment of slots.

It's pretty easy for the small minority of players who do own slot expanders to improvise a solution by imagining the existence of more circles (and this mat design cleverly provides some blank space in just the right places, which will serve those folks' need without causing any distraction for the majority of players).

just a thought...

could all the spaces be bumped up a little and add a row of slotless on the bottom. i can see newer players opening a pack and thinking, "where does this go?".

Good point about QR code, set it for a generic TD page (That can be regularly updated wiht say the links to the various apps/websites). A hey advanced players here's a link to learn how to prebuild your own character.
We're all the kind of people who enjoy the game on a "meta" level. We like talking about the game year-round. We buy tokens. We enjoy crafting. We get together during the off-season if we can. We are a very skewed demographic that way. -Raven

Jeff,
Are Marks/Tattoos going to show up in 10packs and treasure or are they exclusives?

The fingers are both on the same side but the ears are spaced on two separate sides of the character model. I think these slots should mirror each other in layout and both be on the same side or both do one on each side of the body. I prefer both on the same side.

I think it is a valid point to consider removing Mark as that is a slot meant for experienced players and equivalent to an expanded slot.

Some characters have the base 15 charisma for 2 figurine slots. Should there be 2 figurine slots in the mat?

Probably going to be exclusives for a while, but maybe some in 2025.

I really like your new version. Since there is room for some tokens spots, how about a couple slotless token spots and an undesignated spot for future expansion such as Tome. To appease those symmetry minded players I sent you a picture with the new arrangement.
