I’ve been lucky so far getting tokens, whether from TD or other players. Well, guess my luck ran out - I got a shipment of tokens I won in an 8K auction. The box was sealed perfectly, but an entire side of it was completely destroyed and the box was empty. Came in a plastic bag with a printed not saying how sorry the post office was about the damage. :(

I’ll file a claim, but it won’t cover the loss. Just wondering if it was theft or shipment damage.

You'll never know, but more likely shipment damage. I had several boxes of tokens shipped to me recently and more than a few looked like they had been dropped and kicked around several times. Thankfully, they were so well wrapped that it would have been really difficult to break them open. Not that they didn't try.

That sucks. USPS delivering the empty package is sort of salt in the wound.

I had it happen only once. It was a shipment from TD in a large USPS box that appeared to have gotten a gash in it and ripped apart. It was about 250 draws and the only thing in it was the sorry note, my survivor buttons, and an xp card. TD just shipped me a new one immediately.

Since then, I've been very careful to use reinforced tape and make sure to wrap it completely around the package 2-3 times in different places. Haven't had a problem since then.

UPS I routinely have things damaged or destroyed. I avoid using them when possible.

Fedex is ok - about the same rate of damage as USPS but they seem to find ways to really stick it to you on pricing if anything isn't exactly their normal shape/size/weight. In fairness, USPS has started cracking down a bit on weird shaped heavy packages too.

Sorry you lost your shipment. I hope it wasn't too much stuff.

Let us know how it turns out and if the auction makes good for you.

Good luck on recovering your expenses and/or replacement tokens from the person running the auction.

The sender should have paid for insurance and all should be covered. If this isn't the case, I wouldn't use that seller anymore.

An auctioneer almost certainly isn’t insuring shipments out of their own pocket given its more a group buy than a merchant situation.

+1. If the seller can't make it good then they shouldn't be doing it.

When it’s an auction, and the auctioneer gives everyone the option to add insurance or not… it’s kinda the buyers choice. I just insured a pkg for 2k to TDA and it was $55 additional dollars. That’s a lot of cost and I have seen in many auctions, in the rules l, it states that they have the choice to add insurance and pay for said insurance. Now, on the flip side. I have seen a handful of times when the worst does happen, and even when not insured, the auctioneer has taken care of it. That’s just the kind of community we have here. The one time they could replace it all, a bunch of us here reached out to help out of our own pockets. Many know the follies of the USPS. It’s hard in my eyes to hold them responsible for what someone else has done. Times are tough and everything has gone up in the last few years. Maybe I see it wrong… it’s hard because we look at someone who can easily replace thousands in lost product as a great seller, but another who can’t afford to do that as one we should stay away from. Even if we know them, know they are good people and great part of our community, but now short them for the bs USPS pulls

30 cents of packing tape to cover the box sometimes means your shipment getting there. Also for small amount of tokens I prefer a media envelope wrapped it tape it's practically indestructible.
