See this post for update.

Effective immediately*, even if a character is able to equip more than one Eyes Slot item (most likely via Cranston's Helpful Hat ), under no circumstances can they wear two eye patches (or eyepatches). It just doesn't make sense to cover both of one's eyes.

Please note that this only applies to eye patches. Assuming one has the means to do so, it's fine to equip more than one lens (e.g., Lens of the Hawk ) or other ocular device that doesn't block your character's vision.

*Please give the app programmers time to implement this change. They just found out about this change too. The app programmers are volunteers, not TD employees. They have full-time jobs, friends, and families that all demand their time.

This feels like a rather strange juxtaposition of practical thinking and magical thinking.

Can't wear two eyepatches under normal circumstances? Cool, that makes sense.

Can't wear one eyepatch + Lens of the Hawk under normal circumstances? Cool, we're simplfying reality with game rules, and nobody wants to futz with two individual single Eye slots when we can have one Eyes slot instead.

But given the existence of a hat that magically allows me to wear two entire pairs of glasses to full effect, why wouldn't that same magic let me wear two eyepatches over the same eye (likewise to full effect) and still see normally with the other eye?

Obviously it's not my call, but I really don't see any upside in adding extra complexity to the slot rules for this.

I've always thought of Cranston's as being like the tool Optomotrists use - you have layers of glasses on top of each other. I've seen Steampunk costumes like this as well. Just another way to think about it.

This definitely makes the new eyepatch transmutes next year less alluring. I was looking forward to going with the blind sage aesthetic. But it will save transmute ingredients since you only need one now (was just planning legendary + relic) so that’s a plus.

Kind of how I feel about it. One less transmute to make next year. Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. I guess it's just a thing.

Maximum Focus with double eyepatches is too much fun for us, I guess.

Lenses of focus + legendary eye patch then. Or LoDS, or instant analysis - at least there are lots of options

Strange ruling.

Rather than making a general rule people have to remember (you can only wear one eye patch!), and which might one day mess up a player who owns $50 total of tokens, this should just be a rule particular to the new transmute based eye patches that prevents them from stacking - such as how the Rings of Havoc were handled.

Beyond that "you can't get 8 focus from 2 eye slots" seems like a very strange boundary for TD to be drawing. You can get 5 focus and 2 ranged damage or 5 focus and Lenses of Divine sight instead - which isn't very different.

They did this with the Ring of Havok so I'm not exactly sure why folks are upset by this.

The ruling could have been "only 1 eyepatch of xxx" may be equipped, and it would have been fine.

They also did it with whisper beads.
