OK while I wait for a really detailed and complex game I am working on to come together - how about a quick and easy one? (Based on the game High Society - props to Reiner Knizia)

3-5 players, each player needs the following tokens:

5GP, 5GP, 5GP, 5GP, 10GP, 10GP, 15GP, 20GP, 25GP, 5PP, 50GP Jasper. Total GP value: 200GP (you can sub in a 10GP Fluorite for a 10GP, but not sub in 2x5GP - the denominations need to match or be the same for each player.)

Tokens needed for the game (1 of each - GOLD CHIPS only):

ITEMS
1= Dagger 2= Hand Axe 3= Short sword 4= Staff 5= Mace 6= Longsword 7= Great Axe 8= Great Sword 9= +1 Long sword 10= +1 Great Axe

ARMOR
DOUBLE= Leather Armor
DOUBLE= Reinforced Leather
DOUBLE= Studded Leather

PROBLEMS
-1 item= Masterwork Thief Tools
-5 points= Minor rumor
1/2 total points= Major rumor

(You can pretty much substitute any weapon or item - just remember the number value that goes with it, or the positive impacts (2X) or negative impacts (-1 item, -5 points, 1/2 points) on your winnings. You can also switch around the GOLD each player starts with...just be sure to give everyone the same starting total.)

GOAL: be the player with the most ITEM points and ARMOR benefits when the game ends. Each ITEM is worth points based on the number associated with it 1= Dagger, 5= Mace etc. ARMOR doubles your points, so owning the Dagger and Mace and one of the ARMOR tokens gives you 12 points. Owning the Dagger and the Mace and two of the ARMOR tokens gives you 24 points.

GAME START:
Randomize the 16 GAME tokens and stack them face down in one stack.

Roll-off or pick a player to go first - this player flips over the top token and starts the bidding process.

BIDDING:
Players bid to win ITEMS and ARMOR OR bid to avoid taking a problem into their posession.

Bidding proceeds moving in a clockwise order with players anteing their wager. A wager may be one or more gold tokens from the players supply of gold.

A player may bid or pass when the bid moves to them. Once bidding has gone around, players who have bid must either raise their bid or pass (taking their bid back to their hand.)

As long as bids increase, bidding continues clockwise around the table until all but one person has passed.

WINNING THE BID:
After all but one of the players have passed, the remaining highest bidder takes the item and places it in front of him/her. This is the winning bidder! The GP used to buy the item is piled up in an area away from other players (bank).

When a PROBLEM token is flipped over bidding starts with the player that flipped it over. The goal is to outbid and not PASS. The first player to pass has to take the PROBLEM item into their possession.

GAME OVER:
The game ends immediately when the three pieces of ARMOR and the Major Rumor are all owned by a player or players. Each player first counts their remaining GOLD PIECES in their hand...the player with the lowest remaining GP is out of the game - no matter how many points they have in ITEMS and ARMOR.

The remaining players now add up the ITEM points they have consider any "before doubling" problem they have and then multiply any doubles as per the number of ARMOR tokens they have. The Thief Tools take away the points earned by one item (before doubling), the Minor Rumor subtracts 5 points (before doubling) and the Major Rumor reduces total points (after-doubling if applicable) by 1/2 (round down). The player with the highest number of points after all the scoring is complete is the winner.

That's it - simple, only takes 71 tokens to play (buy more tokens!!!)...ENJOY!
G
