From the TD newsletter, posted here for easy reference:

---QUOTE---

Dagger of Throwing (one cauldron)
Recipe: 7x bladed weapons, 1x Scroll of Keen Edge, 40x GP in gold and or gems (or no gold/gems and 1x Stone Spider Fang)

Gem of Blinding (two cauldrons)
Recipe: 1x Thunderstone, 1x pyrite, Ix Sardonyx, 2x Small Steel Mirrors, 1x Potion of Fire Resistance, 2X Scroll of Shocking Grasp, 100 GP in gold and or gems (or no gold/gems and 1x Ghoul Tongue)

Spider Silk Shirt (three cauldrons)
Recipe: 3x Fluorite, 1x Jade, 1x Mortar and Pestle, +1 Cloak of Resistance, 3x Leather Armor, 1x Universal Solvent, 1x Anti-toxin, 1x Scroll: Slow Poison, and 300 GP in gold and or gems (or no gold/gems and 1x Dryder Silk)

----

I guess that answers people's questions about what the various ingredient tokens are worth, for trade purposes: effectively, they're worth 40 GP for a Stone Spider Fang, 100 GP for Ghouls' Tongue, and 300 GP for a Dryder Silk.

I have one question about the Spider Silk Shirt, though: This item can be worn in additon to any armor on the torso, right? We won't need to choose to wear either the SSShirt or Robes of the Mage?
From Dave's Token Guide -- coming out at the end of the week:

Dagger of Throwing: This double bladed weapon returns to the caster when thrown, which means the player will not have to expend a round to retrieve the weapon after throwing. It is also allowable to use this weapon in melee, however the player does not gain any advantage in melee from the multiple blades (i.e. two attacks).

Gem of Blinding: Held out in front of the party, a command word will release a blinding flash from within this beautifully crafted gem. The effect of the flash will cause the monster to fight at -4 to hit for one round. The monster is allowed a Reflex save against a DC-15 for no affect. This item can be used 4 times before it cracks and turns to a pile of ash.

Spider Silk Shirt: This iridescent shirt wrought from the silk of giant spiders absorbs the damage from a successful spider melee attack (or any monstrous spider attack). This shirt can be worn under armor and has no class limitations. The shirt will absorb damage from up to four successful spider attacks then it will disintegrate.

Not nearly as useful of last year's go around, but something to pick up for the collection I guess.

I was really hoping for some ultra which required all 3 ingredients but I gues not.

Maybe next year then?

My guess is that few people are going to waste their ingredient tokens this year (instead holding out for a 4 Cauldron token next year).

There also seems to be a strong indication that we'll be encountering some nasty Spider in the dungeon this year.

Also, while the new Combo Tokens look cool (and collectors are going to acquire them anyway), I agree that they're not as useful as the Combos from last year.

- The Dagger is only marginally better than the Sling. The only real difference I see is that after the first round (when you engage in melee with the Dagger), you can use your STR bonus for hit/damage rather than your DEX bonus for hit. Kinda corner-case. Compared to previous 1-Cauldron tokens, it's kinda expensive (since it requires a Red).

- Gem seems worse than the Ring of the Ram (which used similar ingredients)

- Shirt is easier to make than the notorious Periapt (the latter required an out-of-print token that was difficult to get), but seems much more narrow in use (only against spiders). Limited uses, but at least it doesn't seem to take up a slot.

At least the Ring of the Eye appears to be much cooler than the Drow Blade Venom...

All I can say is don't throw away those old THUNDERSTONES...I think the old RED WOODIE ones are much more superior to the CHIPPIE version...

IN FACT they are the ONLY decent ranged weapon for CLERICS...

Anyone with a Woodie Thunderstone to trade - I'll trade ya a chippie version and something extra from the Uncommons - just PM me!

Sorry, I would like to have two 4C tokens next year (that is, if Jeff will let me) one that requires one each of the trade ingredients from the first two years. The other 4C will be one that can be made, but with an incremental increase in resources.

We faced several delimmas this year.

First we had to decide if we were going to include the ingredients at all. We decided to as there may be a fair amount of players that found one or two, but would not be able to get one of each, and may want to offload them this year. So the decision was to incorporate them into the formulas.

Second, we originally had six combo tokens, like last year. Only the 2C and 3C tokens used the ingredients, which would have kept their relative value closer to each other. It also made sense that the trophy ingredients were linked to a particular item (e.g. Dryder silk going in Spider Silk Shirt). Dealing with the new token manufactorer, however set some limits on how many unique tokens we could make. The numbers of uniques and ratios between each kind are different than with wood tokens. Unfortunately that meant my list of six had to be cut down to three, one of each rarity to insure newbies could make at least one.

Third, now that we were limited to three, and the desire was to use each ingredient, I could not ask for multiples of any one ingredient because people may only have one copy. Because each combo has a relative total "ingredient" value, each trophy ingredient has a different relative value. I guess we could have said 1X, 2X, 3X ingredient tokens for each combo, but that kind of defeats having the ingredints be different things.

Some other things I tried to do was make the 1C and most of the 2 and 3C ingredients be in both the wooden and resin versions. The dagger can be made out of either all wooden or all resin tokens or a mix. The 2C and 3C tokens have ingredients that are specific to the newer resin tokens.

Dave
They are one and the same - no?

Essentially, yes they are both "leathers". I guess I always thought of "Leather" armor as more tooled and processed where as hide was essentially stacked and sewn together scraps, but a rose....

The plan has always been to terminate the 3-year story arc in 2008 with a cool UR 4C token. This will be a keepsake with which to remember the whole 3-year adventure by. That is still the plan, unless Dave wants to do otherwise.

If you look at the expense of a "red" versus a formula of non-reds, then yes it is a bit more pricy in that reds are harder to come by.

However, the formula for each combo is loosly attached to the relative trade value of each token in the list. The total "value" in GP trade is about the same as last year's 1C tokens (e.g. 40-70 GP). The punt here is that I had to make the assumption that resin tokens (sorry, I can't call them chippies) will have approximatley the same relative trade value moving forward as their wooden counterparts. For new token types, I guessed.

Dave

No, I do not want to change the plan, so there will be at least one 4C token that will need one of each of the ingredients to make.
