TOPIC: Healing Tokens

Healing Tokens 16 years 11 months ago #1

Howdy, so does anyone actually ever sell any individual tokens? I only have a few from a couple years back when I visited the true dungeon. I am going again and would like to find some tokens that might help me survive, like healing, raise dead, knock, etc. I would be interested in buying some extras that anyone can spare. They seem to rarely appear on eBay.

Any ideas on which tokens are must haves to try to survive and where I might look for them? Thanks.
Howdy, so does anyone actually ever sell any individual tokens?

Depends on the token, and the place.

Lots of traders in the True Dungeon tavern will sell individual tokens.
Many traders on the forums here are interested in tokens, depending on the rarity and (sometimes) the year of print.

I only have a few from a couple years back when I visited the true dungeon. I am going again and would like to find some tokens that might help me survive, like healing, raise dead, knock, etc.

Healing is always good. Raise dead... do you mean the Elixir of Life? That's quite a sought-after item, even more so this year now that it's an Ultra Rare. But this year a new potion called "Death's Door" is being introduced as a Rare, and it can raise the dead (to alive at 1 HP, instead of full HP like the Elixir). Knock and other scrolls are frequently available from traders online.

I would be interested in buying some extras that anyone can spare.

Many people on the forum have stuff to spare.
Post what you have available to trade, and see if there are any takers. Or post what you're looking for and what you're willing to give (Most trades are for other tokens, but cash sales are sometimes done via PM)

Any ideas on which tokens are must haves to try to survive and where I might look for them? Thanks.

You'll want Armor and a Weapon for whatever character class you're likely to play. Healing Potions are always good. Some basic gear is smart, too.

Look for 'em here. Lots of traders check out this forum.
Savior Stone - saves from any type of death
Elixer of Life - revives dead player (but I think only if the "soul" is still around, hence, not if sucked into a void, etc.) to full hit points.
I believe both of the above need to be used in the room the player died. The dead player cannot be brought back in subsequent rooms.

Potions of healing: 5 pts.
Potions of healing: 1 pts.

Scroll of Healing: 8 pts (must have living cleric willing to cast)

and of course the new Dwarven drinks (2007)...

See the Token Guide availble via the main web site for details on the two Dwarven drinks (Ale and Mead) and the other tokens mentioned.

As to where to get them? Perhaps someone else can suggest. Private Messages between players here on the forums or the True Tavern at Gen Con. As the Exlixer was moved from Red to Purple this year, I'm sure it'll be harder to procure.

Keep in mind that unless you are playing at 10AM Thursday morning, you should have opportunity to trade with collectors in the Tavern during the con.
I have never tried the tavern trading thing, other than with the shopkeeper guy one year. Seems like everyone would be after healing. I probably won't have that many tokens to trade. I think they are giving away a bag with every ticket this year, right? Wonder if you can get those earlier or just before your game. Probably buy a couple bags too. But if I can get some basics before hand, I think my chances might be better. Are wands of healing impossible to get?

I've been thinking of setting up 'shop' in the hallway outside the TD entrance at 10 in the morning, just to give early players an option for trading. But we'll have to see if my plan survives morning lethargy.

Seems like everyone would be after healing.

Most people are... but there's also a lot of healing to go around. This year's new token line up contains a lot of healing options (as JKW pointed out)

I probably won't have that many tokens to trade.

That's probably the bigger drawback. Very few traders are looking to buy common items. If you have GP, you can buy items. If you have old or rare tokens, you can make some very nice trades. I bet if you posted your current token selection in this thread, people could give you a good idea of what you could expect for it.

I think they are giving away a bag with every ticket this year, right? Wonder if you can get those earlier or just before your game.

Last year you could get them early, as long as it was the same day as your run. You sign in, get your wristband and token bag, and are told where to meet the rest of your team, when. Then you can go trade tokens or whatever you like until your run time.

Probably buy a couple bags too. But if I can get some basics before hand, I think my chances might be better. Are wands of healing impossible to get?

Wands of healing? Yep. Pretty much impossible at this point.
You should be able to get by without a wand, though. Multiple potions or scrolls are just as useful as a wand.

- Raven

Hey Flash. Welcome to the TD forums!

The basics have pretty much been covered by others. I think the key points to surviving are get a good suit of armor for your class, Half-Plate or Full Plate for the Lobster classes and a decent weapon.

I think healing is useful in so much as it helps make up for mistakes. As people mentioned there are a lot of healing options, Dwarven Rations among them. But use caution and common sense and you should do fine. I would also recommend doing Normal instead of Hardcore as HC is geared more towards experienced players with a lot of tokens.

If survival is important for you, I might also recommend a healing class such as the Cleric, Druid, or Paladin. Wizards tend to make nice chew toys for dragons and such.

But even if you do die, you can still "participate" with Speak with Dead scrolls. Carry one with you and give it to someone when you die so that you can interact with them in say, the final room.

Hope this helps. :)
