TOPIC: Latest Token Update (They are almost here!)

<br />The thing that gets me - they are optional...but the collectibility and geeky coolness of them just RULES!<br /><br />I wonder when the day will come that someone sets up a TD booth in the CON and sells single TOKENS!<br /><br /><br />

There are lots of reasons why one might go overboard on the tokens.  For me, the GenCon trip is one of the most significant adventures that my wife and I undertake every year.  True Dungeon has become a very big part of why it's so fun and fulfilling.  It's pretty much a top priority for recreational activities.  So, it gets a sizable chunk of the yearly budget.  <br /><br />Yes, I bought a lot of tokens because:<br />a) I always get drawn into collecting stuff that I like.  I've got hundreds of Star Wars action figures, hundreds of D&D books, and I once paid $750 for a single Dragon Dice die.  (I also invested in the company later, after SFR, Inc. bought Dragon Dice from Wizards of the Coast.) <br />b) I do love those purples!<br />c) I'm also trying to get a full set of Platinum tokens for this year.  <br />d) I wanted to have lots of trade goods, because I have some huge gaps in the early years of my TD token collection.  I also don't have that many Purples, relative to the size of my collection.  So I wanted to get lots of good stuff that I could trade for older Purps. <br />e) I've got a lot of friends coming this year who are new to TD.  I wanted to give them a hand in getting outfitted with good gear.<br />f) Best of all, I wanted to support True Dungeon in a big way.  <br /><br />Yes, everyone who bought tokens is supporting True Dungeon.  No one should feel bad about the size of their order.  Especially not someone who "just" bought 50 bags.  50 bags is a huge order, and no less important because others bought more.  I'm sure there are many who ordered fewer tokens, who had a harder time justifying the expense.  I say, you spend what you can, based on what it means to you.  <br /><br />PS.  I like the terms SMAKLoad and SMAK-Attack, no matter how many tokens I buy.  But if you'd like to use the phrase "Going Arcbatty", then be my guest. <br />

i love the term arcbatty. <br /><br /> my first year at gencon and TD, i was in a group with jason. he introduced me to some of the nuances of the game. so it's his fault that i'm an addict now.    while purchaseing tokens is cool for collecting reasons, it IS all about supporting TD.

<br /><br />Ya know, I was in a group with Jason my first year at TD, too. He (and the other excellent people I ran with) are a good part of the reason I'm addicted, too.<br /><br />Maybe he's a carrier for the TD addiction virus?<br />
