First and Foremost - A BIG THANK YOU to the Martins and anyone who helped out with the tokens this year.

I just received a 25pk purchase. All the tokens had been hand sorted and put into pouches. That must have taken some time. Thank you.

I was very pleased to see such a great distribution per pouch. Nary a double and certainly not a x3-5 of one token. *whew*

One thing I noticed though was that, out of a total of 30 pouches, I only received 1 Platinum Rare/Red token. (and one pouch had no Plats at all)
I know we may not be able to have the best of both worlds.....just talking out loud.
I really did like the certainty of getting (in a bag of 10packs of ten tokens) 1 PLAT Rare, 2 PLAT Uncommon, and 7 PLAT Common. If you ordered a 25(30) pack, you were very likely to get three sealed bags of 100 tokens, hence 3 PLAT Rares.

For all I know, the Martins thought about this and tried very much to continue with that ratio and my 30 pouches just happened to have a few mis-token issues.

I'm not pouting or complaining. Just wondering about the future.

If TD ends up hand sorting everything, what'd going to happen to those ratios of PLATs?

Thank you for taking the time to think about this and respond.

Oh...and I wish you tons of luck working everything out with the factory. Really!

John
I guess it was just a decision about which sort of distribution was more onerous to the consumer. The liklihood of getting a pack with a buncha the same common but with orderly plat distributions or randomized common and plat distributions. I don't think I have a real preference overall and heck, I didn't even notice the duping common problem. It's just seems to be one of those instances where when you nail down one side of the board, the other side is obliged to pop up.

I know. I was just wondering if the hard labors involved had included attempting to keep that PLAT ratio or not. I didn't take note, other than I only had the one Rare Plat.

If it's all going to be random now, some lucky person could easily end up with 5 or 8 Red Plats in a 25 pack. It'd be just like the uncertainty of a Purp.

Just wondering what the plans are. Of course, Jeff may not know at all until after much delibration with the factory.

John I think there are pros and cons either way. I didn't mind the token distribution in my 60 packs but for what its worth, I got two packs with no plats either. :|

The best possible way would be for the factory to do it exactly as I told them. Oh well.

And yes...with us hand sorting them in an order of 25 you could get no Red Plats or you could get 10 Red Plats. It is more random this way, and actually it is really the proper way to do it. I had no idea that the factory was going to wrap the 10-packs 10 to a case with the even distribution, and I almost decided to break them all open into individual 10-packs before send them off. In the end I thought people would be happier with this way, so I left them alone.

I am not sure why Douglas got two non-plat bags. That should not happen. Perhaps there was a miscommunication between me and the free labor of my inlaws. Looks like I owe Douglas two Plats.

Thanks for the feedback.

Thank you for the feedback Jeff - and the hard work of everyone involved. Your labors are appreciated.

If things work out with the factory, you might consider keeping the sealed packs of 100 tokens for the larger purchases.
Why? I think it promotes trading. It helps the large/huge purchases get close enough to a full set of platinums that those people are more likely to trade a lot with other people. Afterall, with that large of an order, such a person is not likely to really need many tokens other than a few Rares and URs. Giving these people something to aspire too (obtaining a plat set) encourages trading with the masses.

Just a thought.

John

Ummmm...yeah, Jeff's right here. When my parents (both over 75 years old) were sorting the 500 that they did, at one point my Dad said "Why do I have these 2 grey ones". I thought Oh, crap....here we go......somewhere there's 2 bags w/out Platinums. So, I just had him put the 2 "grey" ones into one bag and then explained that he's not supposed to mess with those, only replace duplicate "gold" chips. I knew someone was going to end up with those bags, but I also wasn't going to ask them to reopen the entire box of 100 bags and find the one missing a plat. I did open about 10 on the top and couldn't find it, so I figured it had happened some time ago.

Honestly, no matter how we do this, someone is going to get a bag that's either messed up in some way, or end up with an uneven distribution of the plats or some darned thing wrong.

We have someone now sorting the tokens, and I plan on working on them also, but seriously.......it's not a fun job. I'm sorry for any mistakes, but we are human. If you have a problem with a bag your receive or something with your order, please contact Jeff or I and give us the opportunity to fix it.

Lori
