You know...I was trying to calculate the other night exactly how many of each red is out there. I probably could have saved myself a lot of grief and just posted and waited for Jeff or someone to tell me, but it gives you something to do when you're staring up at the ceiling waiting to fall asleep. The numbers I was using to estimate was based on the idea that there was around $40,000 worth of token orders. I have no clue if that's even close as an estimate since we're a screwy and skewed population on here but I figured it's enough to get things started.<br /><br />$40,000 = 4,000 bags<br />4,000 bags = 4,000 rares<br />40 rares = 100 of each rare.<br />10% are plats = 10 plats of each rare.<br /><br />When you think about it that way...it's a miracle anyone finishes a plat set. Lets say I'm underestimating and off by half. Even then it's only 20 tokens in all of existance. Sorta remarkable really.

<br /><br />so, does my overestimation of the going rate of plat rares make a little more sense now?  thats why i hesitate to trade my 2 plat gauntlets...unfortunately for me, from the recent posts it looks like the +1 long sword is the one to have.

<br /><br />Yep and I think it will also vary by token.  Plat consumables won't be worth as much as Plat Permenants and I think the multiplier will probably be different for the different rarity levels.

Nah. I think your valuation is still off, Kurt. The problem is there's no functional difference and it's too hard to complete a set. I figure only 3-4 people will bother, tops and after they finish, plats are worthless again. or rather, they won't have any additional value beyond the gold.

Well I would debate that a little...<br /><br />For set builders 1 of 40 is 1 of 40...if the last one you are missing is the PLAT Thunderstone...it could be easily 2X the value of Guide in my eyes...3X just to be done with it...<br /><br />You agree John - you feel like that for the Sword and CLW you are missing?

<br /><br />oh yeah, i know that now.  when i first tried to guess plat value i put too much emphasis on supply (or lack there-of), as it turns out far fewer people care about them than i expected, low demand=lower price.  though, i will be curious to find out what a plat +1 long sword goes for if only one shows up on the boards and there are at least two people trying to get it

I'll be happy to let John go crazy on it...I'll wait for the second one....
