I have mixed feelings about this one I think that it is still an excellent idea to keep the weight down and you can have like huge gem tokens to give out how cool would it be to have a 5000gp Treasure token. The problem is that gold doesn't seem to count for very much so far since it can only be used at the event and most people don't want to trade gold during a transaction.

Unless the shop starts dealing in really exclusive goods handing them 5000gp+ won't get you anything in the TD store. Hey I have an idea how about a secret shop inside the dungeon that you would have to find and get access to in order to spend that amount of money to buy purples!

Hm. I'm not certain the vote options fit me 100%, but here's my take:

I don't fly to Indy, so that part of it is not an issue for me directly.
I'm fine with, in the future, larger denomination GP value tokens (GP/PP/Gems/Jewelry) that the GP/PP/Gem/Jewelry-heavy owners can exchange for.
I'm not sure when or how TD should do this, however. I mean, should TD set aside two hours at the Con where traders can trade in their huge amounts of the above for a single, higher-denomination token?
Should TD provide this service through the mail? If so, should they charge the token-owner shipping both ways (to keep TD's loss down)? I would choose the Con option I guess and limit it to a specific trading window (with allowances for those volunteering).
Should TD go to the trouble of tracking all of this in a DB or via e-mail? No. That is not their responsibility.
If I were TD, I'd stay away from the Paper Certificates.

I DO, however, see the problem for people such as Gary who are flying and would like to bring their GP tokens but cannot afford the luggage fees and hassle.
I would be comfortable with TD handing out a limited number of Certificates here and now for those coming to Gen Con Indy 2007.
Simply post their names, values, and certificate numbers for all to see. We can ask the original owners if we have questions and TD doesn't need to keep track beyond the initial post.
This could be something as easy as 1000 GP installments to make breaking it down again at the Con easier.

Good luck making the decision.

JKW

i didn't vote because i'm not sure how i stand, i think. so let me try this.

1. this year, there is an urgency issue. i understand and i assume all others do as well.

2. the idea of dumping all of my lower denomination GP's for higher ones is great.

3. i believe they should come in token form (this year probably an exception; see 1 above)

4 they should come in 500, 1000, 5000, 10,000 GP's. trading in gold for higher values is going to be a tedious chore for whoever is going to count it all. 200gp is not likely to be mailed in to upgrade.

5. since these would be used from year to year, there should not be a year indicator (spider, star, etc.). some of these will more than likely end up in collections and effectively be out of circulation.

6. players should not expect TD to have change for these. news paper stands can't always break a hundred dollar bill.

on an sorta unrelated note: perhaps TD could have a "shop" for banking, combos, etc. set up in the tavern. it could be similiar to what dave last year, but behind a desk so traders come come and go more freely throughout the day.

I think it is a great idea. Even if you only buy a 60 bag lot you will have 3k gold laying around in large stacks of gems and gold.

I agree with all of the above but number 5. If there is a year indicator, then one from every year could end up in a collection. Why not do a printing of them every year to match the year indicator? It wouldn't be hard to do. It's not a deal-breaker either way, but it's just smart for True Dungeon to do, in the same way that it's smart for the Post Office to come up with new stamps every year - they want a percentage of them to stay out of circulation in collections. They would all be completely interchangeable, but for someone that might want to collect them it would be nice to have a new set each year. For those that don't want to collect them, they can just ignore the different versions.

Stick with #5...think of these as gold bars or something that do not need to be collected every year.

Besides having some tokens that are "timeless" sounds pretty good after trying to build a PLAT set...

Frankly, all these additional collectable elements are just turning me off when it comes to tokens. As I've said, I have more than enough to try to work on and it's probably already beyond me and I didn't exactly make small purchases either. After a while, if you make everything collectable and out of reach for most people, they will simply give up.
