So I was just thinking, while it's nice to get more and more tokens, at what point would you push back from the table, give a satisfied belch, and declare that you were full? Assuming that power creep weren't to be an issue, nor more tokens to come down the pipe that became necessities, I think that there are actually only a few that would finish off my happiness quotent.

Mithril Chain
Flaming Shortbow +2
Ellipsoid Ioun Stone
Longsword +2
Nightshade's Short Sword +2

Put in that perspective....I wonder if maybe it wouldn't be a better idea if I just liquidated my entire collection that's in excess to acquire what's on the list. After all, there are often times I feel like I've been run ragged trying to keep up in the tokens arm race and that I never actually get anywhere. I've never subscribed to the idea of having just one set of equip and chucking the rest, but maybe that's the best way to go. I mean, I will never play a wizard, so why have 10 mage armor scrolls lying around, right? It might also be interesting to not have to haul all that weight around when your entire token collection could fit in two binder pages tops. Hmmm...

Well, I have an Ellipsoid Ioun Stone - what does 1/5 of your entire excess collection add up to? ;/

Henwy,

That's pretty much what I do. I get a set of reds. Anything else is geared to my thief build. If I get some purples, that's always a nice addition, but I don't worry about it too much. I don't have the time and resources to even think about outbidding the more serious tokenaholics for purples I need. I focus on things that can have an impact on my character, like having extra elixirs/healing.

I've never played the Ranger, but, if it doesn't have evasion, I think that a ring of evasion might be included in that master want list.

David

Edited to remove objections

I do play wizards, so I'll take those mage armors to go with my cloak of resistance, and ring of protection. If I could add a ring of focus, my wizard would rock!
Gary,

Didn't mean for you to be bothered...but even 8-10 reds for normal purples and 15-20 reds for better purples is not something that I can do. I didn't mean it in a bad way. It's great that you can offer that much. You can totally hook someone up for a whole party of him and his friends for a random purple they find in a dungeon. That's a nice thing. I'm sorry you took it as negative. I edited my above post.

David

Well - he did add a just kidding at the end. And of course JK isn't the one to beat either, he wasn't the winner of that EChain either =)

It's sorta sad really. What I want a mithril chain for is to play a class I don't even want or like to play. No one in my group will ever take the thief and i'll be damned if I'm going through that frakking dungeon without one. As such, I've been forced to do it two years in a row now in at least one of the runs. I figure if I've got to do it, I might as well be armed for bear.

You know, if would be interesting if we get official "batting averages" for rogue disarm. Then, those rogues could REALLY hire out to adventuring parties for gold/tokens/etc.

I'm not sure that self-reported success rates would likely hold very much water. I find the best backup to having a rogue that shakes like a parkinsons patient is the 5.5' rule and a handful of knock scrolls.
