TOPIC: New Purple Tokens at GenCon

Does anyone know how many different types of new purple tokens were made available at GenCon?<br /><br />I have seen posts about the +2 Bracers and I traded for a ring of focus  (adds +1 to any healing or damage spell you cast).   Were there any others that showed up?<br /><br />Also how did the person get the token, I see Smak got his bracers for special token and I think David said he got the Focus ring for winning a contest. <br /><br />

The Ring of Focus isn't new, it was one of the PURPs from this year's set. 

As far as I know the Bracers were the only new PURP.<br /><br />The Ring of the Eye was the reward RED.<br /><br />The Alchemist Pouch was the in dungeon only GREEN<br /><br />And the three ingredients SSlime, Ecto and QSilver were the three new common Black ingredients<br /><br />oh and of course the Feedback Loop - was it the same red as reserve tokens???<br /><br />GAME ON!

Ok, I stand (or actually sit) corrected.  There was one new purple at GenCon.<br /><br />However, my other question is still worth talking about:  How did people get Purples at GenCon?<br /><br />

ooo ooo ooo!  I solved Jeff's Christmas Day Clue!!!<br /><br />Some of you may have seen Jeff posted a clue for 24 hours only on Christmas day.  It said something like:<br /><br />Try turning to vintage 246 it is always a good choice.<br /><br />Well many of us were looking for some clue showing us 246...we saw the death date of one of the sons...it was in the year 246...<br /><br />But the thing to do was in the Wizards study.  There was a chest of drawers - it might have been the same loot box used in years past, I'm not 100% sure.  Anyway, I saw the numbers down one side and thought that they were strange - why put this thing here with empty drawers??  So I tried a few things and ended up pulling open drawer 2 in the first column, then drawer 4 in the second column, then drawer 6 in the third column - the DM stood there and then called for someone to come to the room.<br /><br />I got a +2 Nightshade blade for the solution.  And as far as I know it only worked once.<br /><br />I did hear rumors that PURPS were pulled from some Treasure Boxes - but out of 4 runs (most with at least 4-5 horns), no one in my groups got one.

Damn. I had forgotten all about the 246 thing and I had even made a screen capture of the post. Oh well. Chances were slim I would have actually figured it out anyway.

I know of a couple people who reportedly pulled Purps from the treasure boxes, but I don't know which ones they got.<br />And I bought a '00' token bag in the tavern.  Got the UR Ioun Stone.  =]<br /><br />Other than that I just know about the specials and the prizes in the tavern.

We got our Ring of Focus from buying the 30 pack of tokens.  Adam traded a Savior Stone for the Robe of the Mage.  He tried the rest of the weekend to get a +2 Holy Greatsword, but had no luck.<br /><br />

I did pretty well getting what I really needed. Wasn't able to track down an ioun stone though.

<br /><br /><br />I pulled a Great Axe +2 in the Shambling Mound room during my first run on Thursday. Was glad I found a Purple, even if it wasn't one I was particularly looking for. Later that day during the training session for my hardcore run, I was fortunate enough to encounter another player who wanted to trade his Ring of Focus (received in a "00" bag) for my Axe. The Ring was at the top of my list for Purps, so I was very eager to make the trade. Turns out that player did True Arena and the Great Axe +2 served him well, so we were all very happy with the transaction!<br /><br />Raven mentioned another player who also pulled a Purple in the dungeon. There was also a player who got a Purple for playing the Rogue's Game. For the prelim rounds of True Arena, the winner got a Purple (2nd place got a Red), and the top 2 during the True Arena finals received Purples as well (I think first place was a Flaming Short Bow). <br /><br />There was also someone who got a Dragonscale Armor in a pack, and then *one* of our forumites decided to contribute to the eBay problem by paying $80 for it! Anyone want to take a guess at who that was?  :O :O :O<br /><br />So there was no new Purple token for the volunteers this year?

<br /><br />The volunteer goodies are comming in the mail so we don't know what we are getting.  But knowing Jeff and Lori, I assume it will be nice. 

There were purps in all the pull boxes.  After the exploding pull box in room 1, Dave, Lee, and I lowered the number of tokens in each box and there were purps in them.
